Diffractive photoproduction of two oppositely charged pions off protons is measured in the photon-proton energy range $20&lt;W&lt;80$ GeV and invariant dipion mass $0.4&lt;m_{\\pi\\pi}&lt;2.2$ GeV. The data were recorded in  electroproduction at $ep$ centre-of-mass energy $\\sqrt{s}=319$ GeV for momentum transfer $Q^2&lt;2.5$ GeV$^2$. Results are given as photon-proton cross sections but can be converted to $ep$ cross sections using the tabulated effective photon flux. Both elastic ($m_Y=m_p$) and proton-dissociative ($1&lt;m_Y&lt;10$ GeV) reactions are measured. The  measurements are done single- and double-differential in the di-pion mass and the momentum transfer $t$, in bins of the photon-proton energy $W$.
