Abstract (data abstract)
This analysis (HIG-21-004 [2017+2018 CMS data]) is an extenstion to the search (HIG-18-003 [2016 data]) for new light bosons decaying into muon pairs using data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb^{−1}. This analysis HIG-21-004 [2017+2018 CMS data] - explores a larger parameter space, dimuon mass from 0.21-60 GeV (was from 0.25-8.5 GeV for HIG-18-003 [2016 data]), with 0 < cτ < 100 mm. - increases luminosity to 60–137 fb^{−1} (was 36 fb^{−1} for HIG-18-003 [2016 data]). - covers a range of 10E−2 > ε > 10E−8 for kinetic mixing in the dark sector, which is complementary to others (EXO-20-014 and EXO-21-006, 10E−5 > ε > 10E−9). - expanded fiducial volume benefit from phase-1 pixel upgrade. - interprets four bench mark models using model-independent limits - Axion-like particle (ALP) - Vector portal - NMSSM - Dark SUSY Analysis strategy of this analysis - Data-driven background (BKG) estimation method - Below Υ; Template method [1] - 1DBKGtemplate; TI(µµ1) and TII(µµ2) - 2DBKGtemplate; TI(µµ1)⊗TII(µµ2) - Above Υ; Gaussian kernel-density estimate (KDE) method
