Measurement of $W^+W^-$ production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector and limits on anomalous WWZ and WWγ couplings

Abstract (data abstract)
CERN-LHC. Measurements of the cross section for W+W- production in proton proton collisions at a centre-of mass energy of 7 TeV. The data sample used, collected during 2011, has a total integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb-1 with 1325 candidate events in the double leptonic decay final state with electrons, muons and missing transverse momentum. The total cross section is presented together with fiducial cross sections in a phase space region, defined for each decay channel. This fiducual region is defined as: Common Cuts for all fiducial regions: - No Generator Jets with PT > 25 GeV in |Y|<4.5 and |Delta R(jet,electron)|>0.3 (Generator-level jets defined by Anti-$k_t$ algorithm with $R=0.4$) - Lepton kinematics account for photon contributions within $Delta R=0.1$ - PT of electrons and muons > 20 GeV - PT of leading lepton > 25 GeV - ETA of electrons: |eta|<1.37 OR 1.52<|eta|<2.47 - ETA of muons: |eta|<2.4 - PT of DiLepton System > 30 GeV - PT_Rel defined via the transverse vector sum of both Neutrinos according to EQN 3 (P 5) Specific Cuts for ee decay channel - dilepton mass > 15 GeV - |dilepton mass - Z0 mass| > 15 GeV - PT_Rel > 45 GeV Specific Cuts for mumu decay channel - dilepton mass > 15 GeV - |dilepton mass - Z0 mass| > 15 GeV - PT_Rel > 45 GeV Specific Cuts for emu decay channel - dilepton mass > 10 GeV - PT_Rel > 25 GeV Note added (25 JUN 2014): The cross section values reported in Tables 1,2,3 below should be multiplied by a factor of 1.0141 to take into account the updated value of the integrated luminosity for the ATLAS 2011 data taking period. The uncertainty on the global normalisation ("Lumi") remains at 1.8%. See Eur.Phys.J. C73 (2013) 2518 for more details.
