Abstract (data abstract)
CERN-LHC, ATLAS. Limits on pair production of Higgs bosons in the final state where one Higgs boson decays to two photons and the other to a b-quark together with its antiparticle. The search is based on 36.1 +/- 1.2 fb^{-1} of pp collisions at sqrt{s} = 13 TeV recorded in 2015 and 2016 with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Data include at least one b-tagged jet and two well-identified isolated photons. The search is sensitive to both resonant and non-resonant production of Higgs boson pairs. Preselection: - 2 jets with pT > 25 GeV and |eta| < 2.5, not within DeltaR = 0.4 of an isolated photon candidate or DeltaR = 0.2 of an isolated electron candidate - Among isolated photons take the two with highest pT and require ET > 0.35 * m_gammagamma and ET > 0.25 * m_gammagamma respectively - 105 < m_gammagamma < 160 GeV After this preselection, two further kinematic selections are defined. Loose selection: - jet1 pT > 40 GeV, jet2 pT > 25 GeV - 80 < m_jj < 140 GeV - |m_gammagamma - m_H| < 4.7 GeV (resonant search only) Tight selection: - jet1 pT > 100 GeV, jet2 pT > 30 GeV - 90 < m_jj < 140 GeV - |m_gammagamma - m_H| < 4.3 GeV (resonant search only) For each of these selections, a 1-tag and 2-tag category are considered. 2-tag category: - both jets pass a 70% efficient b-tagging working point 1-tag category: - event does not fall into the 2-tag category - one jet passes a 60% efficient b-tagging working point - boosted decision tree used to select the matching jet
