Each of the decays $\\mathrm{Z}\\rightarrow e \\mu$, $\\mathrm{Z}\\rightarrow e \\tau$, and $\\mathrm{Z}\\rightarrow \\mu\\tau$ is considered.  The data are consistent with the backgrounds expected from standard model processes.  For the $\\mathrm{Z}\\rightarrow e \\mu$ channel the observed (expected) 95% confidence level upper limit on the branching fraction is 1.9 (2.0)$\\times 10^{-7}$, which is the most stringent direct limit to date on this process; the corresponding limits for the $\\mathrm{Z}\\rightarrow e \\tau$ and $\\mathrm{Z}\\rightarrow \\mu\\tau$ channels are 13.8 (11.4)$\\times 10^{-6}$ and 12.0 (5.3)$\\times 10^{-6}$, respectively.  Additionally, the $\\mathrm{e}\\mu$ final state is used to search for lepton flavor violating decays of Z' resonances in the mass range from 110 to 500 GeV.  No significant excess is observed above the predicted background levels.","hasPart":[{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.161021.v2/t1","@type":"Dataset","description":"Expected and observed 95% CL upper limits on $\\mathcal{B}(\\mathrm{Z}\\rightarrow e\\mu)$ for three BDT score bins and their combination, at $\\sqrt{s}...","name":"BF limit Z -> e mu"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.161021.v2/t2","@type":"Dataset","description":"Expected and observed 95% CL upper limits on $\\mathcal{B}(\\mathrm{Z}\\rightarrow e\\tau)$ in the hadronic- and leptonic-$\\tau$ decay channels, and for their...","name":"BF limit Z -> e tau"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.161021.v2/t3","@type":"Dataset","description":"Expected and observed 95% CL upper limits on $\\mathcal{B}(\\mathrm{Z}\\rightarrow \\mu\\tau)$ in the hadronic- and leptonic-$\\tau$ decay channels, and for their...","name":"BF limit Z -> mu tau"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.161021.v2/t4","@type":"Dataset","description":"Expected and observed 95% CL upper limits on $\\sigma(\\mathrm{pp}\\rightarrow\\mathrm{Z}^\\prime+X)\\mathcal{B}(\\mathrm{Z}^\\prime\\rightarrow e\\mu)$ as a function of the Z\u2032 mass (110\u2013500 GeV), at...","name":"Z' mass scan"}],"identifier":[{"@type":"PropertyValue","propertyID":"HEPDataRecord","value":"https://www.hepdata.net/record/ins2959278?version=2"},{"@type":"PropertyValue","propertyID":"HEPDataRecordAlt","value":"https://www.hepdata.net/record/161021"}],"inLanguage":"en","name":"Search for charged lepton flavor violating Z and Z' boson decays in proton-proton collisions at $\\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV","provider":{"@type":"Organization","name":"HEPData"},"publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"HEPData"},"url":"https://www.hepdata.net/record/ins2959278?version=2","version":2}
