Improved measurements of electroweak parameters from $Z$ decays into fermion pairs

Abstract (data abstract)
CERN-LEP. Measurement of the cross section and forward- backward asymmetry from e+ e- into hadrons and lepton pairs at the Z0 mass by the ALEPH collaboration. Data are based on 165000 hadron events and 25000 lepton events taken during the 1989/90 running period and represent 3 times the size of the data sample reported in Decamp et al (ZP C48(90)365). The results are used, assuming lepton universality, to give the Z0 mass as (91.182 +- 0.009(exp) +- 0.020(lep)) GeV and width (2484 +- 17) MeV. The corresponding number of light neutrino species is 2.97 +- 0.07.. Combining with other ALEPH results on quark charge and bbbar asymmetries, and tau polarization, gives a value of SIN2TW = 0.2312 +- 0.0018..
