Further properties of high mass multi - jet events at the Fermilab proton - anti-proton collider

Abstract (data abstract)
Fermilab-Tevatron. Properties of high-mass multijet events produced in proton-antiproton collisions at centre-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV.. This paper gives the following distributions of 3-, 4- and 5- jet data where the final states jets, numbered 3, 4 and 5 are such that the jet energies areordered as E3 & gt; E4 & gt; E5.. 1 - Inclusive multijet mass distributions.. 2 - Distibutions in the Dalitiz variables X3 and X4 defined as XJ = EJ/(3-jet Mass). For thisthe 4-jet systems are reduced to 3-jet systems by combining the two jets with the lowest 2-jet mass. In a similar way 5-jet systems are firstreduced to 4-jet systems by first combining the two jets with lowest 2-jet mass , and then likewise into 3-jet systems.. 3 - Distributions of COS(THETA(3)) of the angle of the leading jet scattering angle.. 4 - Distributions in CHI(3), the angle between the 3-jet plane and the plane containing the leading-jet and the average beam direction in the 3-jet resty-frame.. 5 - The single jet-mass fractions F3, F4 and F5 where FJ=M(J)/M(3JET).. 6 - Two body energy sharing variables XA (=EA/(EA+EB))and XB(=EB/(EA+EB)) in the multijet rets-frame where A and B are the two systems combined together in 4-jet and 5-jet events and EA & gt; EB. XC and XD are the corresponding variables in the reduction of 5-jet to 4-jet events.. The normalized masses FA=MA/M(n-jet) and FB=MB/M(n-jet).FC and FD are the corresponding variables in the reduction of 5-jet to 4-jet events.. The two body angular variable COS(CHI(AB)) defined in the n-jet rest frameas the angle between the plane containing the (AB) system and the average beam direction and the plane containing A and B. COS(CHI(CD)) is the corresponding variable in the reduction of 5-jet to 4-jet events.. All data have been read from the plots.
