Abstract (data abstract)
CERN-LEP. Measurement of the production of charmed D and D* mesons using the full data sample of LEPI data collected between 1991 and 1995. The fractional energy spectrum of D*+- mesons is presented and the probability of a c-quark to hadronize into a D*+- is found to be 0.233 +- 0.010 +- 0.011. Using the D*+- energy and the hemisphere mass imbalance distributions the fraction of Z0 decays inwhich a gluon splits into a ccbar pair is found to be (3.23 +- 0.48 +- 0.53) PC T. The ratio ofVector/(Vector+Pseudoscalar) production rates is found to be 0.595 +- 0.045. The average fraction of the beam energy carried by the D*+- in Z --> CCBAR events isfound to be 0.4878 +- 0.0046 +- 0.0061.
