Measurement of the spin asymmetries and quark helicity densities in inclusive and semi-inclusive (charged pion and kaon)  muon deuteron  interactions with incident beam momenta from 140 to 180 GeV. The full COMPASS  deuteron statistics from the years 2002-2004 and 2006 are used covering the Q**2  range > 1 GeV**2 and X from 0.004 to 0.3.  The experiment uses a longitudinally polarised deuterated lithium target in which alternate cells are polarised in  opposite directions so that data from both spin directions can be recorded at the same time and a longitudinally polarized muon beam with energy constrained to be between 140 and 180 GeV.  The asymmetry in cross sections  between parallel,   S1=Z,S2=Z,and anti-parallel, S1=Z,S2=-Z, spin data is measured.
