Measurement of the Underlying Event Activity at the LHC with $\sqrt{s}= 7$ TeV and Comparison with $\sqrt{s} = 0.9$ TeV

Abstract (data abstract)
CERN-LHC. Study of the production of charged particles with transverse momentum > 0.5 GeV and |pseudorapidity| < 2 in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9 and 7 TeV. The study is performed in the transverse region with |DELTA(PHI)|, the difference in the azimuthal angle between the leading track-jet and the charged particle in the range 60 to 120 degrees. Jest are defined using the SISCone algorithm with a clustering radius R=0.5. Distributions of multiplicity, transverse momentum of the charged particles and its scalar sum are presented with comparisons between the two centre-of-mass energy data.
