We present new data for the reaction K−p→Ξ−K+ at 3.9-, 4.6-, and 5.0-GeV/c incident momenta. We compare the behavior of K−p→Ξ−K+ with K+p→pK+ backward scattering using a simple model with Reggeized baryon exchange and SU(3).

Study of Hypercharge Exchange Reactions of the Type K- p --> 1- 3/2+- at 4.2-GeV/c

The Amsterdam-CERN-Nijmegen-Oxford collaboration Aguilar-Benitez, M. ; Barreiro, F. ; Hemingway, R.J. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 124 (1977) 189-228, 1977.
Inspire Record 101289 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.50024

Results are presented for the quasi two-body hypercharge exchange reactions of the type using data from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment. Total and differential cross sections and the momentum transfer dependence of the meson and hyperon resonance single density matrix elements are discussed. Amplitude analyses are performed for the first two reactions. The results are compared with quark model and duality predictions and with those from other related reactions.

Amplitude Analysis for the Process K- p --> (pi+ pi-) S-Wave Sigma0 (1385)

The Amsterdam-CERN-Nijmegen-Oxford collaboration Barreiro, F. ; Zalewski, K. ; Aguilar-Benitez, M. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 66 (1977) 197-201, 1977.
Inspire Record 110387 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27588

Transversity amplitudes and spin density matrix elements are determined for the process K − p → (π + π − ) s-wave ϵ 0 (1385). Predictions of the additive quark model and of duality diagrams are tested and found consistent with the data; this is the first information about the applicability of these models to processes where a scalar object is produced at the mesonic vertex.

The Reactions K- p --> pi-+ Sigma+- (1385) at 4.2-GeV/c

Nucl.Phys.B 119 (1977) 261-291, 1977.
Inspire Record 110408 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35566

The reactions K − p→ π − Σ + (1385) and K − p→ π + Σ − (1385) are studied at 4.2 GeV c incident momentum using data from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment corresponding to ∼80 events/μb. The total and differential cross sections are presented. Amplitude analyses are performed and the complete Σ ± (1385) helicity spin density matrices are extracted. The results are compared with the predictions of the additive quark model and exchange degeneracy. A substantial cross section is observed for the reaction K − p→ π + Σ − (1385) in the forward direction, which implies exotic meson quantum numbers in the t -channel. One possible interpretation of this process provides an explanation for the small but significant violations of the additive quark model predictions observed in the reaction K − p→ π − Σ + (1385) at low four-momentum transfer. In the backward direction unnatural parity exchange is shown to give a larger contribution to K − p→ Σ − (1385) π + than natural parity exchange.

Inclusive Production of Nonstrange Mesons in anti-p p Annihilations

The Bombay-CERN-College de France-Madrid collaboration Hamatsu, R. ; Ganguli, S.N. ; Malhotra, P.K. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 123 (1977) 189, 1977.
Inspire Record 111926 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35452

A study of the inclusive production of π − , η , ϱ 0 , ω ad f mesons in p p annihilation at 0.7 GeV/ c is presented. Topological and channel cross sections are determined. Longitudinal and transversal momentum distributions of non-strange mesons are studied. It is deduced that nearly 48% of all negative pions arise from the decay of η , ϱ 0 , ω and f mesons.

Nonstrange Vector Meson Production in K- p Interactions at 4.2-GeV/c

The Amsterdam-CERN-Nijmegen-Oxford collaboration Losty, M.J. ; Holmgren, S.-O. ; Aguilar-Benitez, M. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 133 (1978) 38, 1978.
Inspire Record 121759 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.8294

The vector meson production, hypercharge exchange reactions K − p → ( φ , ω , ϱ ) Λ and ( φ , ϱ ) Σ 0 are studied at 4.2 GeV/ c incident momentum. The data come from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment with a sensitivity of ∼ 120 events/μb. Total and differential cross sections are presented. The vector meson density matrix elements and hyperon polarization are investigated as functions of momentum transfer. Amplitude analyses are performed for all five reactions. The results are compared with duality and quark model predictions, as well as used to test current ideas in two-body phenomenology.

Study of the D (1285) and E(1420) Resonances Produced in anti-p p Annihilations at 700-MeV/c to 760-MeV/c

Nucl.Phys.B 135 (1978) 203-223, 1978.
Inspire Record 122850 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.41975

In this paper we have investigated the properties of the D(1285) and E(1420) meson resonances using the five-body annihilation channels p p → K K πππ obtained in a large statistics experiment (28 events/μb). The analysis favours the 1 + spin-parity assignment for the D(1285) meson. The dominant decay mode of the D(1285) into K K π is found to be δ(970)π. The situation concerning the E(1420) meson remains confused although not inconsistent with previous analyses. Partial cross sections on resonance production are also presented.

Phi and omega Meson Production in anti-p p Annihilations at 0.7-GeV/c-0.76-GeV/c and the OZI Rule

The production of the φ and ω mesons has been studied in the reactions p p → φ(ω)π + π − and p p → φ(ω) ϱ 0 at 0.70–0.76 GeV /c . The c.m. angular distribution of the φ meson in the reaction p p → φπ + π − is found to be consistent with isotropy. The corresponding distribution for ω is not. the ratio σ( p p → φπ + π − ) σ( p p → ωπ + π − ) is (10 ± 2.4) · 10 −3 , which leads to a value of (19 ± 5) · 10 −3 when corrected for the phase-space factor. Implications of this result for the OZI rule are discussed.

A Study of $K \bar{K}$ Correlations in $\bar{p} p$ Annihilations at 0.76-{GeV}/$c$

Inspire Record 130089 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35043

The effects of resonance production on correlations in final states containing kaons in p p annihilations at 0.76 GeV c have been in detail. We show that correlation distributions of unlike kaon pairs, K S 0 K ± , can be completerly by resonance production. However, for like kaon pairs, K S ) K S 0 , we require the added effects of second-order interference. Using this interference effect we are able to measure the dimensions of the emission region for kaons in p p annihilations at low energy as R = 0.9 ± 0.2 fm.

An analysis of the K 0 K 0 system at threshold produced in the final states p p → K S 0 K S 0 ( n π) at 700–760 MeV/ c , is presented. A simultaneous fit to the ππ phase shifts and inelasticities and to the K S 0 K S 0 effective-mass distributions using parametrizations which take into account the analytical and unitarity properties of the I = 0 S-wave amplitudes is performed. The behaviour of the eigenphases and the unphysical Riemann sheet structure for different solutions is studied.
