In π − p interactions at 9 GeV/ c and 12 GeV/ c , the forward production of N ∗ 1680 and N ∗ 1520 has been observed with features of nucleon exchange. The production of Δ1232 is strongly suppressed.

SLOPE ABOUT 6 GEV**-2 FOR SMALL U AND EVIDENCE FOR CHANGE OF SLOPE NEAR -U = 0.15 GEV**2.
From the study of the reaction π − p→p F p p π − using a fast proton (p F ) trigger device in the CERN Omega spectrometer, we find evidence for two narrow p p states produced mainly in association with a Δ° (1232) and a N° (1520). The statistical significance of each peak is greater than 6 standard deviations. Masses and natural widths of these resonances are respectively M = 2020 ± 3 MeV , Λ 1 = 24 ± 12 MeV and M 2 = 2204 ± 5 MeV, Λ 2 = 16 −16 +20 MeV. Our data are consistent with a small production of the narrow ∼ 1935 MeV resonance already reported. Production cross sections for these new p p resonances are given.
ERRORS TAKE INTO ACCOUNT STATISTICAL ERRORS AND BACKGROUND SUBTRACTION UNCERTAINTY BUT NOT ACCEPTANCE CORRECTIONS UNCERTAINTY OF 15 PCT.
Four angular distributions of the differential cross section of the reaction γ + p → π 0 + p have been measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV Synchrotron at pion c.m. angles between 3° and 63° in the photon energy range from 0.9 GeV to 1.2 GeV. The π 0 mesons were detected by their two decay photons. The data are compared with data of other laboratories and predictions of two recent partial-wave analyses.

The polarization parameter P for the reactions p p → π − π + and p p → K − K + has been measured over essentially the full angular range at ll laboratory momenta between 1.0 and 2.2. GeV/ c , using a proton target polarized perpendicular to the scattering plane. The angles and momenta of both final state particles were determined from wire spark chambers, using the deflection caused by the polarized target magnet. Between 1000 and 5300 π − π + events, and 140 and 1300 K − K + events, were measured at each momentum. Differential cross sections for p p → π − π + were obtained. These are in excellent agreement with previous results. The polarization parameter for both channels is very close to +1 over much of the angular range. Legendre polynomial fits to the data are presented.
THE DIFFERENTIAL CROSS SECTIONS IN THIS EXPERIMENT AGREE WITH THE ONES FROM THE AUTHORS' EARLIER EXPERIMENT (E. EISENHANDLER ET AL., NP B96, 109(1975)) USING A LIQUID HYDROGEN TARGET, THOUGH THEY DO NOT CONSIDER THE PRESENT ONES QUITE AS RELIABLE.

Angular distributions of the target symmetry for the reaction γ + p → π 0 + p have been measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV Electron Synchrotron at pion c.m. angles between 13° and 63° and photon energies of 1.0 and 1.1 GeV. The π 0 mesons were detected by their two decay photons with total absorption lead-glass Čerenkov counters. Butanol was used as target material in a continuous flow 3 He cryostat operating at 0.5 K and 25 kG. The π 0 counting rate from free protons in the butanol target was derived from the measurements of the differential cross section on hydrogen. The data are compared with data of other laboratories and the results of two recent partial-wave analyses.

An experiment is described to measure the differential cross section for the charge-exchange reaction K 0 p → K + n from 0.6 to 1.5 GeV/ c incident kaon momentum in the angular range −0.65 < cos θ ∗ < 0.85 The calibration of the kaon beam by observation of K S 0 regeneration is also described. The differential cross sections are fitted with Legendre polynomials and compared with those from the time-reversed reaction using deuterium targets. Qualitative conclusions are drawn on the behaviour of particular charge-exchange amplitudes.

FITTED VALUES OF DIFFERENTIAL CROSS SECTION LEGENDRE COEFFICIENTS (4 TIMES USUAL DEFINITION).
Charged hadron production via e + e − → h ± X where h ± = π ± , K ± , p ̄ has been measured for s values between 13 and 25 GeV 2 . Inclusive cross sections and the evidence for scaling are presented.

The total cross section for K ± production in e + e − collisions was measured for cms energies between 3.6 and 5 GeV and was found to increase by a factor of 2–3 from 3.6 to 4.1 GeV.

We present evidence for a large scalar contribution to the cross section for the reaction ep→eK+Λ. No evidence for a scalar contribution is found for the reaction ep→eK+Σ0. This is reminiscent of the results for the π+n and π+Δ0 final states.

Measurement of the exotic exchange reaction π − p → K + Σ − has been performed at 5 and 8 GeV, in the −0.015 to −0.13 and −0.009 to −0.15 (GeV/ c ) 2 range of t repectively. We give the value near t = 0 of the differential cross section at 5 GeV, 21 −21 +76 nb/(GeV/ c ) 2 , and an upper limit (< 37 nb/GeV/ c ) 2 ) at 8 GeV. As a check the measured differential cross section is given at both energies for the reaction π + p → K + Σ + in the same range of t ★★ ★★ Results presented here were included in the thesis of Doctorat d′Etat by M.N. Minard, Orsay, France, 1976. .
