The production of\(\bar D\) mesons in neutroncarbon interactions at 40–70 GeV/c has been investigated. The\(\bar D\) mesons were detected via the hadronic decay modes\(\bar D^0\to K^{* + } (892)\pi ^ -\) andD−→K*+(892)π−π−. In the kinematical regionxF>0.5 andpT<1 GeV/c the following inclusive cross sections were measured:\(\sigma _{\bar D^0 }= (28 \pm 14)\mu b\) and\(\sigma _{D^ -}= (28 \pm 13)\mu b\) per carbon nucleus. The invariant longitudinal momentum spectra can be described by (1−x)N with\(N_{\bar D^0 }= 1.1 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.4\) and\(N_{D^ -}= 0.8 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.4\) The transverse momentum spectra were parametrized by exp (−BpT2) with\(B_{\bar D^0 }= (1.2_{ - 0.9}^{ + 1.1} )({{GeV} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{GeV} c}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} c})^{ - 2} \) and\(B_{D^ -}= (1.8_{ - 1.0}^{ + 1.3} )({{GeV} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{GeV} c}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} c})^{ - 2} \).

First Measurement of the Real Part of a $p p$ Double Spin Flip Amplitude

Gazzaly, M.M. ; Pauletta, G. ; Tanaka, N. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 58 (1987) 1084, 1987.
Inspire Record 247888 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20181

The asymmetry ANN for pp elastic scattering has been measured at 800 and 650 MeV in the region of Coulomb-nuclear interference. The data have been analyzed to extract the real part of a spin-spin scattering amplitude. Results are compared with the predictions of forward dispersion relations. They disagree significantly at 650 MeV.

HIGH-ENERGY DIFFRACTION DISSOCIATION OF K0(L) INTO EXCLUSIVE FINAL STATES

Lamm, M.J. ; Wiss, J.E. ; Avery, P. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 36 (1987) 3341-3352, 1987.
Inspire Record 244943 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23353

We have observed diffraction dissociation of KL0 mesons with a carbon target into the exclusive final states KS0π+π−, KS0ω, and KS0φ. The diffraction production cross section for these states is not strongly dependent on the incident energy, varying at most by 30% between 75 and 150 GeV. The mass distributions do not change appreciably as a function of laboratory energy. The ratio of the diffractive mass-threshold production of K*±π∓, KS0ρ, KS0ω, and KS0φ is compared with previously obtained lower-energy data.

Z.Phys.C 35 (1987) 301, 1987.
Inspire Record 245414 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15776

360 GeV/c proton interactions with aluminium (Al) and gold (Au) targets are studied using the European Hybrid Spectrometer (EHS) equipped with the Rapid Cycling Bubble Chamber (RCBC). Multiplicities, rapidity distributions and correlations between leading and other produced particles are presented and compared with Monte Carlo calculations based on the multi-chain and Lund models.

Observation of $\Omega^*$- Production in $K^- p$ Interactions at 11-{GeV}/$c$

Aston, D. ; Awaji, N. ; Bienz, T. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 194 (1987) 579-585, 1987.
Inspire Record 245802 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30108

Clear evidence is presented for the production of an Ω ∗− resonance of mass 2253±13 MeV/ c 2 and width 81±38 MeV/ c 2 in K − p interactions at 11 GeV/ c . The state is observed in the Ξ (1530)K̄ decay mode, and the corresponding inclusive cross section is estimated to be 630±180 nb. Comparisons are made with theoretical predictions and with similar states observed inhyperon beam induced data.

Pion Pair Production in Photon-photon Collisions at Dci

Phys.Lett.B 194 (1987) 573, 1987.
Inspire Record 248992 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30109

This paper presents experimental results on π + π − production threshold from the collision of quasi-real photons. The data, obtained at the e + e − collider DCI, are a combination of the results from the DM1 and DM2 experiments. Using the e + e − and π + π − production for normalization and cross-checks, we observe a pion pair yield at low invariant mass ( W < 500 MeV/ c 2 ) which is approximately twice the one expected from Born terms.

Measurement of the Ratio of $\Sigma^0$ to $\Lambda^0$ Inclusive Production From 28.5-{GeV}/$c$ Protons on Beryllium

Sullivan, Marilyn W. ; Jensen, Douglas A. ; Kreisler, Michael N. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 36 (1987) 674, 1987.
Inspire Record 21321 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23320

The ratio of the cross section for Σ0 inclusive production to the cross section for Λ0 inclusive production has been measured with 28.5-GeV/c protons incident on a beryllium target at an average laboratory production angle of 4°. This ratio was measured to be 0.278±0.011±0.05, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic in that order. The ratio does not depend strongly on the momentum of the produced particle between 10 and 24 GeV/c. The effect of Σ0 contamination on previous determinations of the polarization of inclusively produced Λ0’s is discussed.

Analysis of Transverse Momentum Distributions for $p p$ Interactions at 360-{GeV}/$c$ in the Framework of a Quark - Diquark Fragmentation Model

Z.Phys.C 35 (1987) 295, 1987.
Inspire Record 245106 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15802

Using a quark-diquark fragmentation model, in which either the Field-Feynman or the Lund model is coupled with a quark-diquark distribution function, we study transverse momentum distributions,pT, for the inclusive reactionspp→hadron +anything at 360 GeV/c. We find that a primordial mean transverse momentum 〈kT〉≃0.4 GeV/c can well reproduce thepT2 distributions of charged hadrons, π0,Ks0, Λ0,K* and Σ* and the Feynmanx−pT correlations. We confirm that a diquark in a proton plays an important rôle in reproducing thex−pT correlation of Λ0.

Measurement of the Structure Functions F2 and Xf3 and Comparison With {QCD} Predictions Including Kinematical and Dynamical Higher Twist Effects

The BEBC WA59 collaboration Varvell, K. ; Cooper-Sarkar, A.M. ; Parker, M.A. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 36 (1987) 1, 1987.
Inspire Record 245094 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15775

The isoscalar nucleon structure functionsF2(x, Q2) andxF3(x, Q2) are measured in the range 0<Q2<64 GeV2, 1.7<W2<250 GeV2,x<0.7 using ν and\(\bar v\) interactions on neon in BEBC. The data are used to evaluate possible higher twist contributions and to determine their impact on the evaluation of the QCD parameter Λ. In contrast to previous analyses reaching to such lowW2 values, it is found that a low\(\Lambda _{\overline {MS} } \) value in the neighbourhood of 100 MeV describes the data adequately and that the contribution of dynamical higher twist effects is small and negative.
