First measurements of the mass and width of the Z 0 performed at the newly commissioned LEP Collider by the DELPHI Collaboration are presented. The measuements are derived from the study of multihadronic final states produced in e + e − annihilations at several energies around the Z 0 mass. The values found for the mass and width are M (Z 0 )=91.06±0.09 (stat) ±0.045 (syst.) GeV and Γ (Z 0 )=2.42±0.21 (stat.) GeV respectively, froma three-parameter fit to the line shape. A two-parameter fit in the framework of the standard model yields for the number of light neutrino species N ν =2.4±0.4 (stat.) ±0.5 (syst.).

Phys.Lett.B 240 (1990) 271-282, 1990.
Inspire Record 294894 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.49562

Hadronic decays of Z 0 bosons are studied in the Delphi detector. Global event variables and singel particles inclusive distributions are compared with QCD-based predictions. The mean charged multiplicity is found to be 20.6±1.0 (stat+syst). The mean values of the sphericity, aplanarity, thrust, minor value, p in T and p out T are compared with values found at lower energy e + e − colliders.

Measurement of the Mass and Lifetime of the Charmed Strange Baryon $\Xi(c$)+

The ACCMOR collaboration Barlag, S. ; Becker, H. ; Bohringer, T. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 233 (1989) 522-529, 1989.
Inspire Record 283345 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.49626

We have observed six unambiguous decays of the charmed strange baryon Ξ c + (or charge conjugate Ξ c − ) in the 230 GeV/c negative pions or kaons on a copper target at the CERN SPS using silicon microstrip detectors and charge-coupled devices for vertex reconstruction. Three of them have been reconstructed through the decay chain Ξ c + → Ξ − π + π + , Ξ − → Λ 0 π − , Λ 0 → pπ − and the other three through the decay chain Ξ c + → Σ + K − π + → pπ 0 . We present our measurements of the mass, lifetime and production cross-section of the Ξ c + , as well as of the branching ration for the two decay modes.

The Reactions K- p --> pi-+ Sigma+- at 4.2-GeV/c

The Amsterdam-CERN-Nijmegen-Oxford collaboration Massaro, G.G.G. ; Barlag, S. ; de Groot, A.J. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 66 (1977) 385-389, 1977.
Inspire Record 110532 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27595

We present differential cross sections and the Σ + polarization for the reactions K − p → π ∓ Σ ± using data from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment at 4.2 GeV/ c incident momentum. The statistical level allows a detailed analysis of these reactions over the whole t range. Several significant structures are observed. Comparisons are made with SU(3)-related reactions; for backward production of π − Σ + such a comparison shows good evidence for Δ exchange. The exotic forward peak in K − p → π + Σ − is definitely confirmed.

Search for Monochromatic Pion Emission in $\bar{p} p$ Annihilation From Atomic $p$ States

The ASTERIX collaboration Ahmad, S. ; Amsler, Claude ; Armenteros, R. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 152 (1985) 135-139, 1985.
Inspire Record 207457 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.49644

Narrow states observable through the emission of monoenergetic charged pions have been searched for in p p annihilation at rest in a gaseous hydrogen target where annihilation from atomic angular momentum L = 1 states dominates. No structure is observed. The 5σ upper limit for the production of narrow states in the mass range 1100–1670 MeV is 2 × 10 −3 of all annihilations.

Measurement of the Neutral Current Coupling Constants in Neutrino and Anti-neutrinos Interactions With Deuterium

The Amsterdam-Bergen-Bologna-Padua-Pisa-Saclay-Turin collaboration Allasia, D. ; Angelini, C. ; Baldini, A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 133 (1983) 129, 1983.
Inspire Record 191539 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30635

We have measured neutral and charged current interactions of ν μ and ν μ on proton and neutron. From a combination of ratios we determine the neutral current chiral coupling constants. The results are u 2 L = 0.13 ± 0.03, d 2 L = 0.19 ± 0.03, u 2 R = 0.02 ± 0.02 and d 2 R = 0.00 ± 0.02. These results agree with the predictions of the standard SU(2) × U(1) model. The corresponding value of sin 2 θ W is 0.20 ± 0.04.

Measurement of the Neutron and Proton Structure Functions From Neutrino and Anti-neutrinos Scattering in Deuterium

The WA25 collaboration Allasia, D. ; Angelini, C. ; Baldini, A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 135 (1984) 231, 1984.
Inspire Record 192102 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30611

Data from an exposure of the BEBC bubble chamber filled with deuterium to neutrino and antineutrino wide band beams have been used to extract the x dependence of the structure functions for scattering on protons and neutrons and the fractional momentum distributions of the valence quarks and the antiquarks of different flavours. The difference F n 2 − F p 2 is compared with recent data from high energy μD scattering. A result is also obtained on the sum rule giving the difference between the number of up and down quarks in the nucleon.

Inspire Record 339920 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29175

Using data from the NA32 experiment at CERN we have studied the Λ + c decays containing a Σ + among the decay products. The interactions of 230 GeV π − with a Cu target were analysed using a precise vertex telescope (charge-coupled devices and silicon microstrip detectors) and the ACCMOR spectrometer. We have found eleven Λ + c →Σ + π + π − , one Λ + c →Σ + K + K − , two Λ + c →Σ + K + π − and one Λ + c →Σ + π + π − π + π − decays practically without any backgroun d. We have measured the branching ratios with respect to the Λ + c →pK − π + channel.

Limits on the production of direct photons in 200-A/GeV S-32 + Au collisions

The WA80 collaboration Albrecht, R. ; Antonenko, V. ; Awes, T.C. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 76 (1996) 3506-3509, 1996.
Inspire Record 404322 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19585

A search for the production of direct photons in S+Au collisions at 200AGeV has been carried out in the CERN-WA80 experiment. For central collisions the measured photon excess at each pT, averaged over the range 0.5≤pT≤2.5GeV/c, corresponded to 5.0% of the total inclusive photon yield with a statistical error of σstat=0.8% and a systematic error of σsyst=5.8%. Upper limits on the invariant yield for direct photon production at the 90% C.L. are presented. Possible implications for the dynamics of high-energy heavy-ion collisions are discussed.

First Measurement of the Lifetime of the Charmed Strange Baryon Xi($c$)0

Phys.Lett.B 236 (1990) 495-500, 1990.
Inspire Record 294681 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.49584

We have observed four unambiguous decays of the charmed strange baryon Ξ c o in the NA32 experiment at CERN. Charge- coupled devices and silicon microstrip detectors were used to reconstruct the decay mode Ξ c o → pK − K ∗ (892) o seen in events produced by the interaction of 230 GeV/ c negative poins and kaons on a copper target. We present the first measurement of the lifetime of the Ξ c o , together with a determination of its mass and production cross section. The resonant components of the Ξ c o decay are studied. We use our earlier measurement of the mass of the Ξ c + in the determination of the isospin mass splitting of the Ξ c states.
