We have searched for signatures of polarization in hadronic jets from $Z~0 \rightarrow q \bar{q}$ decays using the ``jet handedness'' method. The polar angle asymmetry induced by the high SLC electron-beam polarization was used to separate quark jets from antiquark jets, expected to be left- and right-polarized, respectively. We find no evidence for jet handedness in our global sample or in a sample of light quark jets and we set upper limits at the 95\% C.L. of 0.063 and 0.099 respectively on the magnitude of the analyzing power of the method proposed by Efremov {\it et al.}

Polarized E- beam. Events were classified as being of light or heavy flavors based on impact parameters of charged tracks measured in the vertex detector. Jet handedness are measured for helicity-based and chirality-based analysis (seetext). C=95PCT CL indicates the upper limits at the 95 PCT C.L. on the magnitudes.

Recoil Proton Polarization in $\pi P$ Elastic Scattering at 547-{MeV}/c and 625-{MeV}/c

Phys.Rev.D 39 (1989) 2457-2463, 1989.
Inspire Record 282265 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23234

The polarization of the recoil proton in π+p and π−p elastic scattering using a liquid-hydrogen target has been measured for backward angles at 547 and 625 MeV/c. The scattered pion and recoil proton were detected in coincidence using the large-acceptance spectrometer to detect and analyze the momentum of the pions and the JANUS polarimeter to identify and measure the polarization of the protons. Results from this experiment agree with other measurements of the recoil polarization, with analyzing-power data previously taken by this group, and with predictions of partial-wave analyses.

Study of the Reaction $\bar{p} p \to \bar{\Lambda} \Lambda$ Near Threshold

Phys.Lett.B 189 (1987) 249-253, 1987.
Inspire Record 244883 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30178

Results are presented from a study of the reaction p p→ Λ Λ near threshold. Over 3000 events recorded at s values 14.6 and 25.5 MeV above the Λ Λ threshold (2231.2 MeV) have been analysed. Results for the production cross section, differential cross section, and the Λ and Λ polarization are given at both energies and are compared with recent theoretical calculations of this process.

Left-right Asymmetry in Inverse $\pi^-$ Photoproduction From a Transversely Polarized Proton Target

Kim, G.J. ; Adrian, S.D. ; Arends, J. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 56 (1986) 1779-1782, 1986.
Inspire Record 232117 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20259

Accurate measurements of the left-right asymmetry in π−p→γn at pπ=427−625 MeV/c with a transversely polarized target are reported. Results are compared with the predictions from the Arai and Fujii single-pion photoproduction partial-wave analysis and with data on the inverse process measured with a deuterium target. The agreement is poor, casting doubt on the correctness of the value for the radiative-decay amplitude of the neutral Roper resonance now in use.

Nucl.Phys.B 226 (1983) 1, 1983.
Inspire Record 183213 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.8242

Differential cross sections and polarisations in the reaction π + p→K + Σ + have been measured using the Rutherford Multiparticle Spectrometer at NIMROD. Data are presented at 26 momentum points at approximately 50 MeV/ c intervals in the range 1.282 to 2.473 GeV/ c with an order of magnitude more events than previous experiments. Legendre polynomial expansion coefficients have also been determined.

Inspire Record 140382 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.43832

Measurements have been made of the polarisation parameters Σ , T and P for the process γ p → π + n in the photon energy range 520–2250 MeV at c.m. angles between 30° and 120°. These data were obtained in a double polarisation experiment, using the polarised photon beam from the Daresbury electron synchrotron incident on a polarised proton target. The data are compared with predictions from current theoretical analyses.

The results are compared with a recent theoretical analysis which fits data from threshold to 16 GeV. The new data are in general agreement with the analysis, but with some significant discrepancies in detail.

A Study of Inclusive $\Lambda$, $\Sigma^0$ and $\Sigma(1385)$ Production in $K^- p$ Interactions at 8.25-{GeV}/$c$

The Birmingham-CERN-Glasgow-Michigan State-Paris collaboration Baubillier, M ; Bloodworth, I.J ; Bossen, G.J ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 148 (1979) 18-40, 1979.
Inspire Record 132295 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.8128

Inclusive Λ production has been studied in K − p interactions at 8.25 GeV/ c using about 69 000 events; the total cross section is found to be 3.35 ± 0.20 mb. A comparison has been made with Σ 0 and Σ(1385) inclusive production. Their influence on the inclusive Λ production is discussed. The inclusive Λ cross section and polarization is interpreted in terms of the triple-Regge model. In the target fragmentation region an effective Regge trajectory is determined which lies closer to the K than to the K ∗ . In the beam fragmentation region the cross-section data indicate an effective Regge trajectory which corresponds to the nucleon, while the polarization data require additional Regge exchanges to be present.
