New pp measurements of Delta sigma L and Delta sigma T between 200 and 520 MeV disagree with earlier Argonne data, and resolve discrepancies with inelastic data, phase-shift analysis and forward dispersion relations.
TOTAL CROSS SECTION DIFFERENCE FOR PURE TRANSVERSE SPIN STATES (ANTIPARALLEL MINUS PARALLEL).
TOTAL CROSS SECTION DIFFERENCE FOR PURE LONGITUDINAL SPIN STATES (ANTIPARALLEL MINUS PARALLEL).
Inclusive and semi-inclusive cross sections for gp0 production in 100, 200, and 360 GeV/c π−p interactions are presented. Differential cross sections for ρ0 production as functions of c.m. rapidity and transverse momentum are compared with the corresponding differential cross sections for pion production. Effects of various methods of estimating background on the values obtained for ρ0 production cross sections are discussed. About 10% of the final-state charged pions appear to come from ρ0 decay. Thus, while ρ0 production and decay is a significant source of final-state pions, other sources must contribute the majority of the produced pions.

Inclusive data are presented on ϱ 0 ,ϱ + and ω produced in k + p interactions at 250 GeV/ c , for ϱ + and ω for the first time in K + p experiment. In the forward CM hemisphere, the ϱ + , ϱ 0 and ω differential production rates are equal within errors, and remarkably similar to muon-inelastic scattering data on ϱ 0 and ω at 280 GeV/ c .

An analysis of the forward-backward asymmetry in Z0 decays using data from the Collider Detector at Fermilab at √s =1.8 TeV yields AFB=[5.2±5.9(stat)±0.4(syst)]% and sin2θ¯W =0.228−0.015+0.017(stat)±0.002(syst).
Asymmetry after background and QCD corrections.
SIN2TW derived from asymmetry measurement fully corrected for background and radiative corrections.
Using 123 multihadronic inclusive muon-production e+e− annihilation events at an average c.m. energy of 55.2 GeV, we extracted the forward-backward charge asymmetry of the e+e−→bb¯ process and the R ratio for bb¯ production. We used an analysis method in which the behavior of the c quark and lighter quarks is assumed, with only that of the b quark left indeterminate. The results, Ab=-0.72±0.28(stat)±0.13(syst) and Rb=0.57±0.16±0.10, are consistent with the standard model.
Asymmetry in BOTTOM quark production.
Ratio of BOTTOM quark production to total hadron cross section (R value).
A coupled channel analysis has been carried out using a new amplitude analysis of the K 0 s K 0 s system produced in the reaction π − p→K 0 s K 0 s n at 22 GeV/ c , which contained about 40 000 new events in the low- t region (| t − t min |<0.1 GeV 2 ). Here only the I G =0 + , J PC =2 ++ amplitude from this analysis is considered, together with available data from other experiments in channels with the same quantum numbers in order to determine which 2 ++ isoscalar mesons have significant pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar couplings. It is found that four poles, f(1270), f'(1525), θ(1690), and f r (1810), are needed, plus a smooth background in order to fit these data; the need for the θ(1690) depends on the J/ψ radiative decay alone, and the f r (1810) is seen only in hadronic production.

Measurements of elastic photoproduction cross sections for the J / ψ meson from 100 GeV to 375 GeV are presented. The results indicate that the cross section increases slowly in this range. The shape of the energy dependence agrees well with the photon-gluon fusion model prediction.

We have determined the strong coupling αs from measurements of jet rates in hadronic decays of Z0 bosons collected by the SLD experiment at SLAC. Using six collinear and infrared safe jet algorithms we compared our data with the predictions of QCD calculated up to second order in perturbation theory, and also with resummed calculations. We find αs(MZ2)=0.118±0.002(stat)±0.003(syst)±0.010(theory), where the dominant uncertainty is from uncalculated higher order contributions.
The second systematic error comes from the theoretical uncertainties.
We present a measurement of jet shapes in p¯p collisions at √s =1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron using the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF). Qualitative agreement is seen with the predictions of recent next-to-leading [O(αs3)] calculations and with leading logarithm QCD based Monte Carlo simulations. The dependence of the jet shape on transverse energy is studied.
