We have searched for possible narrow resonances produced in e + e − annihilation at Adone, in the mass regions 1910–2545 MeV and 2970–3090 MeV. No evidence has been found for narrow resonances, within the sensitivity of the present work: we deduce an upper limit on the energy integrated resonant cross section of about 10% of the J/ψ(3100) corresponding value.
We present a study of events with Z bosons and jets produced at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in ppbar collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data sample consists of nearly 14,000 Z/G* -> e+e- candidates corresponding to the integrated luminosity of 0.4 fb-1 collected using the D0 detector. Ratios of the Z/G* + >= n jet cross sections to the total inclusive Z/G* cross section have been measured for n = 1 to 4 jet events. Our measurements are found to be in good agreement with a next-to-leading order QCD calculation and with a tree-level QCD prediction with parton shower simulation and hadronization.
Inclusive momentum spectra are measured for all charged particles and for each of $\pi~{\pm}$, $K~{\pm}$, $K~0/\overline{K~0}$, and $p/\overline{p}$ in hadronic events produced via $e~+e~-$ annihilation at $\sqrt{s}$=58GeV . The measured spectra are compared with QCD predictions based on the modified leading log approximation(MLLA). The MLLA model reproduces the measured spectra well. The energy dependence of the peak positions of the spectra is studied by comparing the measurements with those at other energies. The energy dependence is also well described by the MLLA model.
Using the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer (BESII), we have measured the total cross section for $e^+e^-$ annihilation into hadronic final states at center-of-mass energies of 2.6, 3.2, 3.4, 3.55, 4.6 and 5.0 GeV. Values of $R$, $\sigma(e^+e^-\to {hadrons})/\sigma(e^+e^-\to\mu^+\mu^-)$, are determined.
About 300 000 $e^+e^-\to \phi\to K^0_L K^0_S$ events in the center of mass energy range from 984 to 1040 MeV were used for the measurement of the $\phi$ meson parameters. The following results have been obtained: $\sigma_0 = (1367 \pm 15 \pm 21) nb, m_{\phi}=(1019.504 \pm 0.011 \pm 0.033) MeV/c^2, \Gamma_\phi=(4.477 \pm 0.036 \pm 0.022) MeV, \Gamma_{e^+e^-}\cdot B(\phi\to K^0_L K^0_S) = (4.364 \pm 0.048 \pm 0.065)\cdot 10^{-4}$ MeV.
We report measurements of the observed cross sections for $e^+e^-\to\omega \pi^+\pi^-$, $\omega K^+K^-$, $\omega p\bar p$, $K^+K^-\rho^0\pi^0$, $K^+K^-\rho^+\pi^-+c.c.$, $K^{*0}K^-\pi^+\pi^0+c.c.$, $K^{*+}K^-\pi^+\pi^-+c.c.$, $\phi\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$ and $\Lambda \bar \Lambda \pi^0$ at $\sqrt s=$ 3.773 and 3.650 GeV. Upper limits (90% C.L.) are given for observed cross sections and for $\psi(3770)$ decay branching fractions for production of these final states. These measurements are made by analyzing the data sets of 17.3 pb$^{-1}$ collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV and 6.5 pb$^{-1}$ collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.650$ GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC collider.
A new measurement of the total e + e − → hadrons cross-section in the centre of mass energy range 1.8-2.5 GeV, performed by the FENICE experiment at the Frascati e + e − storage ring ADONE, is presented. The behaviour of the total cross section together with the proton electromagnetic time-like form factor is discussed in terms of a narrow vector resonance close to the nucleon-antinucleon threshold.
Using 11.6 pb^{-1} of data collected in the energy range 0.984--1.06 GeV by CMD-2 at VEPP-2M, the cross section of the reaction e+e- to pi+pi-pi+pi- has been studied. For the first time an interference pattern was observed in the energy dependence of the cross section near the phi meson. The branching ratio of the phi to pi+pi-pi+pi- decay double suppressed by the G-parity and OZI rule is measured Br(phi to pi+pi-pi+pi-) = (3.93 +- 1.74 +- 2.14) \cdot 10^{-6}. The upper limits have been placed for the decays phi to pi+pi-pi+pi-pi0 and phi to eta pi+pi- Br(phi to pi+pi-pi+pi-pi0) < 4.6 \cdot 10^{-6} 90% CL, Br(phi to eta pi+pi-) < 1.8 \cdot 10^{-5} 90% CL.
Using the BES-II detector at the BEPC Collider, we measured the lowest order cross sections and the $R$ values ($R=\sigma^0_{e^+e^- \to {\rm hadrons}}/\sigma^0_{e^+e^- \to \mu^+\mu^-}$) for inclusive hadronic event production at the center-of-mass energies of 3.650 GeV, 3.6648 GeV and 3.773 GeV. The results lead to $\bar R_{uds}=2.224\pm 0.019\pm 0.089$ which is the average of these measured at 3.650 GeV and 3.6648 GeV, and $R=3.793\pm 0.037 \pm 0.190$ at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV. We determined the lowest order cross section for $\psi(3770)$ production to be $\sigma^{\rm B}_{\psi(3770)} = (9.575\pm 0.256 \pm 0.813)~{\rm nb}$ at 3.773 GeV, the branching fractions for $\psi(3770)$ decays to be $BF(\psi(3770) \to D^0\bar D^0)=(48.9 \pm 1.2 \pm 3.8)%$, $BF(\psi(3770) \to D^+ D^-)=(35.0 \pm 1.1 \pm 3.3)%$ and $BF(\psi(3770) \to D\bar{D})=(83.9 \pm 1.6 \pm 5.7)%$, which result in the total non-$D\bar D$ branching fraction of $\psi(3770)$ decay to be $BF(\psi(3770) \to {\rm non}-D\bar D)=(16.1 \pm 1.6 \pm 5.7)%$.
We have measured the cross section $\sigma(e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^- \gamma)$ at an energy $W=m_\phi=1.02$ GeV with the KLOE detector at the electron-positron collider DA$\Phi$NE. From the dependence of the cross section on the invariant mass of the two-pion system, we extract $\sigma(e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-)$ for the mass range $0.35<s<0.95$ GeV$^2$. From this result, we calculate the pion form factor and the hadronic contribution to the muon anomaly, $a_\mu$.
