Large samples of inclusively produced Ξ−, Ω−, and Ξ0(1530) events are presented from a 1427 events/μb exposure of the large-aperture superconducting-solenoid spectrometer to an 11-GeV/c K− beam. Production characteristics of these states are compared with other data and shown to be consistent with hyperon exchange. Polarization of Ξ− shows an increase in magnitude with both Feynman x and transverse momentum. The Ξ− decay parameters are measured to be αΞ=-0.40±0.03 and ΦΞ=(5±10)° . Results of searches for higher-mass hyperons are presented. The Ξ−(1820)→Ξ0(1530)π− decay is observed, while we fail to confirm the existence of the Σ+(3170).

Using the UA5 detector, the inclusive central production of Ks<sup loc="post">0</sup> and K<sup loc="post">±</sup> mesons has been measured in non-single-diffractive interactions at the CERN SPS <math altimg="si1.gif"><ovl type="bar" style="s">p</ovl>p</math> Collider at a c.m. energy of 540 GeV. The average transverse momentum is found to be 〈pT〉 = 0.57±0.03 GeV/c in the rapidity range |y|<2.5, which is an increase of about 30% over the top ISR energy. The K/π ratio has increased from about 8% at ISR energies to 9.5±0.9±0.7% (the last error is systematic) at 540 GeV. The average number of Ks<sup loc="post">0</sup> per non-single-diffractive event is 1.1±0.1 and the inclusive inelastic cross section is estimated at 49±5 mb.

The real-to-imaginary ratio of the p p forward elastic scattering amplitude has been measured at the LEAR facility of CERN by the Coulomb-nuclear interference method at seven beam momenta between 181 and 590 MeV/ c . The ratio is positive at 590 MeV/ c , becomes negative below 500 MeV/ c , reaches a minimum at 260 MeV/ c and then crosses zero again at about 230 MeV/ c .

The production of neutral K ∗ (890) and ρ 0 mesons was studied in e + e − annihilation at s =29 GeV using the High Resolution Spectrometer at PEP. Differential cross sections are presented as a function of the scaled energy variable z and compared to π 0 and K 0 production. The measured multiplicities are 0.84±0.08 ϱ 0 mesons and 0.57±0.09 K ∗0 (890) mesons per event for a meson momentum greater than 725 MeV/ c . The ratios of vector meson to pseudoscalar meson production for (u,d), s and c quark are compared to predictions of the Lund model.

Pt of the leptons is determined relative to the thrust axis. B-DECAY, C-DECAY, C-SECONDARY and BKG are corresponded to fractions of leptons originationg from primary BQ deacy, primary CQ decay, secondary decay, and from background.
We present high statistics measurements of the energy-energy correlation (EEC) and its related asymmetry (AEEC) ine+e− annihilation at a c.m. energy of 34.6 GeV. We find that the energy dependence as well as the large angle behaviour of the latter are well described by perturbative QCD calculations toOα(s2). Non-perturbative effects are estimated with the help of fragmentation models in which different jet topologies are separated using (ɛ, δ) cuts, and found to be small. The extracted values of\(\Lambda _{\overline {MS} }\) lie between 100 and 300 MeV.

The fragmentation functions of u-quarks into positive and negative pions are determined from an analysis of identified pions produced in deep inelastic muon-deuterium scattering. The method adopted is not sensitive to the knowledge of the primary quark distribution functions. The fragmentation of u quarks to positive pions is found to fall less steeply in z than that to negative pions as expected in the quark parton model.

From a study of multimuon events obtained in a high luminosity proton-platinum experiment at 400 GeV/ c , we find 5 ± 4 ψψ events, which correspond to a production cross section σ ( ψψ = 27 ± 10 pb. The observed production is compared to the ψψ events previously found in the same apparatus from incoming π − ; a comparison with QCD predictions is performed, giving a good agreement with expectations from gluon-gluon fusion. Finally, using like-sign dimuon, trimuon and quadrimuon events, we give model-dependent upper limits on beauty meson production: 2 nb/nucleon for central models, 20 nb/nucleon for diffractive production.

The production of antideuterons has been observed in electron-positron annihilations at center-of-mass energies around 10 GeV. Antideuterons have been identified unambiguously by their energy loss in the drift chamber, their time-of-flight and the pattern of their energy deposition in the shower counters of the ARGUS detector. The production rate in the momentum range (0.6−1.8) GeV/ c is (1.6 −0.7 +1.0 ) × 10 −5 per hadronic event.

We have measured the production of direct photons, π 0 's, and η's in p p and pp collisions at √ s =53 GeV in the range 2≈ p T ≈6 GeV/ c for the central rapidity region | y | 0.4. No statistically significant difference between pp̄ and pp interactions is observed.
