Polarization Measurements in pi- p, K- p and p p Elastic Scattering at 40-GeV/c

The Saclay-Serpukhov-Dubna-Morsoc collaboration Gaidot, A. ; Bruneton, C. ; Bystricky, J. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 57 (1975) 389-392, 1975.
Inspire Record 99592 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27840

We report final results on the polarization parameter P in elastic scattering of π − , K − and antiprotons at 40 GeV/ c incident momentum. The energy dependence of P (t) in π − p above 10 GeV/ c is well fitted by P (t) α s αR(t)-α P (t) where α R (t) are the effective Regge and Pomeron trajectories respectively. The data in K − p are compatible with exchange degeneracy. The results inp¯p show an important structure for |t|> 0.3 (GeV/c) 2 demonstrating the existence of a large helicity flip amplitude.

Observation of a Spin 4 Neutral Meson with 2-GeV Mass Decaying in pi0 pi0

Phys.Lett.B 57 (1975) 398, 1975.
Inspire Record 99595 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27849

The invariant mass spectrum of neutral meson states from π − p interactions at 40 GeV/ c incident momentum has been investigated in a high statistics experiment performed at the 70 GeV IHEP accelerator. To detect the high energy photons coming from the produced neutral states, a hodoscope spectrometer with a computer on-line was used. A clear structure on the mass spectrum of dipions produced in the reaction π − p→π°π°n is observed at 2 GeV. The decay angular distributions show in this mass region the variation with mass typical of a state with a spin J = 4. The mass of the observed meson is found to be M = (2020±30)MeV and the estimate of the full width is (180±60) MeV.

Nucl.Phys.B 99 (1975) 365-375, 1975.
Inspire Record 98822 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.31832

The total and differential cross sections of the K¯0p→Λπ+ and K¯0p→∑0π+ reactions have been measured in the centre-of-mass energy range of l.5 to 2.3 GeV. Using our K¯0p→∑0π+ data as well as available cross-section data of isospin related channels, we have calculated the total I=0K¯N→∑π cross section as function of energy. The results are compared with predictions obtained from K¯N phase-shift analyses.

Measurement of the Polarization Parameter in Small Angle Proton Proton Elastic Scattering at 6-GeV/c

Rust, D.R. ; Crittenden, R.R. ; Heinz, R.M. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 58 (1975) 114-116, 1975.
Inspire Record 99058 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27810

The polarization parameter in pp elastic scattering was measured at 6 GeV/ c with fine t resolution for 0.02 < − t < 0.5 GeV 2 using a polarized proton beam with Effective Mass Spectrometer at the Zero Gradient Synchrotron. The polarization rises like √− t in the interval 0.02 < − t < 0.1 GeV 2 , No statistical significant structure was found in this region of momentum transfer.

A Study of the Reactions pi+ p --> K+ Sigma+ and K- p --> pi- Sigma+ at 10-GeV/c

For the first time, the reactions π + p →K + ∑ + and K − p→ π − ∑ + have been studied in the same apparatus. This has been done at an adequately high momentum (10.1 GeV/ c ) to allow a check of the prediction of exchange degeneracy, that the differential cross sections should be converging at high energy. We have measured the cross section for momentum transfers t between t min and t = −0.3 (GeV/ c ) 2 . We find that for both reactions the differential cross section shows an exponential fall, with no deviations right in to t = t min (where some other experiments have shown a dip in the cross section). Furthermore, we find the magnitude of the differential cross sections to be closely similar at t = 0, with a ratio R= ( d σ d t) t=0 ( K − p →π − ∑ + ) ( d σ d t) t=0 (π + p → K + ∑ + However, the slope for the positive reaction is about 19% steeper than that for the negative reaction.

Neutral K, Lambda and anti-Lambda Production in K- p and K+ p Interactions at 32-GeV/c

The French-Soviet & CERN-Soviet collaborations Beilliere, P. ; Cochet, Christian ; Dumont, J J ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 90 (1975) 20-34, 1975.
Inspire Record 2057 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32067

Inclusive cross sections and one-particle inclusive spectra are given for neutral K, Λ and Λ produced in K − p and K + p interactions at 32 GeV/ c in the 4.5 m Mirabelle hydrogen bubble chamber at the Serpukhov accelerator. Cross sections for associated production are also given, and the energy dependences of the cross sections and of the x distributions in the central and in the fragmentation regions are discussed.

Production of gamma rays in K- p and K+ p Interactions at 32-GeV/c

The French-Soviet & CERN-Soviet collaborations Beilliere, P. ; Cochet, Christian ; Dumont, J J ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 91 (1975) 219-231, 1975.
Inspire Record 2852 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.6709

Inclusive cross sections and longitudinal momentum distributions are presented for γ rays produced in K − p and K + p interactions at 32 GeV/c in the 4.5 m Mirabelle hydrogen bubble chamber at the Serpukhov accelerator. The average longitudinal and transverse momentum of neutral pions and the average π 0 multiplicity ▪ 〈 n π 0〉 are estimated. It is found that 〈 n π 0〉 is an increasing function of the number of charged prongs.

Backward pi- p Reactions Between 0.6-GeV/c and 1-GeV/c

Debenham, N.C. ; Binnie, D.M. ; Camilleri, L. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 12 (1975) 2545-2556, 1975.
Inspire Record 104820 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24845

Measurements are reported of the differential cross section for the reaction π−p→π−p,π0n,andηn at three angles close to 180° and for incident momenta in the range 0.6 to 1.0 GeV/c. The three measurements were made simultaneously at 1% intervals of beam momentum. The data on elastic scattering resolve a discrepancy between two earlier experiments. They also show clearly the effect of the opening of the ηn channel. The charge-exchange data show that I-spin bounds are not violated in the kinematic region covered. The ηn data can be adequately described with known s-channel resonances. No evidence for narrow N*'s is seen in any channel.
