We present total and differential cross sections for charm mesons produced in 600 GeV/ c π - emulsion interactions. Fits to d 2 σ / dx F dp T 2 ∞ (1−| x F |) n exp (- bp T 2 ) for 676 electronically reconstructed D mesons with x F >0 give n =4.25±0.24 ( stat .)±0.23 ( syst .) and b =0.76±0.03±0.03 ( GeV / c ) -2 . The total inclusive D + and D 0 cross sections are σ ( π - N → D ± ; x F >0) = 8.66±0.46±1.96 μb nucleon and σ(π - N→D 0 D 0 ; x F >0)=22.05±1.37±4.82μb nucleonk, where a linear dependence on the mean atomic weight of the target is assumed. These results are compared to next-to-leading order QCD predictions.

Linear A-dependence. Different modes of the charm mesons detection were used (see text for detail). The differential cross section is fitted by the equation : D2(SIG)/D(XL)/D(PT**2) = CONST*(1-XL)**POWER*EXP(-SLOPE*PT**2).

Linear A-dependence.

Charm Pair Correlations in 800-GeV/c Proton - Emulsion Interactions

We present results on charm pair correlations measured in proton-emulsion interactions at s =38.7 GeV. The predictions of leading order QCD for the distributions in invariant mass, rapidity gap, x F , and polar angle in the charm pair CMS are qualitatively consistent with our measurements. The mean p T of the pairs is equal within errors to that measured in dilepton production at the same energy and mass range.

Highlights of the Reaction $\pi^- p \to \pi^- \pi^+ n$ at 100-{GeV}/$c$ and 175-{GeV}/$c$

Phys.Rev.D 29 (1984) 588, 1984.
Inspire Record 13822 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33875

We present a summary of the physics results from an experimental study of the reaction π−p→π−π+n at 100 and 175 GeV/c incident-beam momentum. Our data show the continuing dominance of one-pion exchange in these reactions with the characteristic 1Plab2 momentum dependence. We extract the pion Regge trajectory from our data on π−p→ρ0n and study the zero structure of the ππ differential cross section up to sππ=12 GeV2.

STUDY OF A2 PRODUCTION IN THE REACTION PI- P ---> K0 K- P AT 50-GEV/C, 100-GEV/C, AND 175-GEV/C

Inspire Record 191493 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23901

The reaction π−p→K0K−p has been measured from 50 to 175 GeV/c. The production characteristics of the A2 have been analyzed. We find spin and t dependence similar to lower energies, but the cross section falls rapidly with energy. In a Regge description of π−p→A2−p our data imply a rather small Pomeron-exchange component.

Inclusive Strange Resonance Production in $p p$, $\pi^+ p$ and $K^+ p$ Interactions at 147-{GeV}/$c$

Phys.Rev.D 25 (1982) 2248-2258, 1982.
Inspire Record 176545 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23976

We have studied the inclusive production of K*±(890) and Y*±(1385) in pp, π+p, and K+p interactions at 147 GeV/c. The experiment used the Fermilab 30-inch hydrogen bubble chamber with the hybrid spectrometer system. Results are based on a sample of 1916 observed KS and 932 observed A. Inclusive cross sections are given for K*± and Y*± production from the three beams, and comparisons are made with experiments at other energies. Feynman-x and transverse-momentum-squared distributions are also calculated. The results suggest that the K*− is entirely produced in the central region, while the K*+ includes a component from beam fragmentation. Comparisons are made with the additive quark model.

INCLUSIVE PRODUCTION OF NEUTRAL STRANGE PARTICLES BY 147-GeV/c PI+ K+ p INTERACTIONS IN HYDROGEN

Nucl.Phys.B 164 (1980) 1, 1980.
Inspire Record 156268 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.8251

Results are presented from a study of inclusive neutral strange particle production by a 147 GeV/ c tagged π + /K + /p beam in the Fermilab 30-inch hydrogen bubble chamber. The experiment made use of the proportional hybrid spectrometer system. Results are based on 995 K S 0 , 485 Λ, and 83 Λ found in a sample of 132 000 pictures. Cross sections are given for inclusive production of these particles by each of the three beam particles, and comparisons are made with measurements at other energies. Topological cross sections are also calculated, and KNO multiplicity scaling is investigated. Distributions are presented of invariant cross sections as functions of the Feynman scaling variable x and c.m. rapidity y . The transverse momentum-squared distributions with their fitted slopes are also given. Comparisons are made of the production characteristics for the three beam types.

The inclusive production of ϱ 0 mesons in pp collisions has been measured at five c.m. energies from √ s = 23.6 to 63.0 GeV. The cross sections and the production spectra as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity are discussed.

Evidence for Dominant Vector Meson Production in Inelastic Proton Proton Collisions at 53-GeV Center-of-Mass Energy

Jancso, G. ; Albrow, M.G. ; Almehed, S. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 124 (1977) 1-11, 1977.
Inspire Record 119346 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35433

The Split Field Magnet facility at the CERN ISR has been used to measure inclusive resonance production in inelastic p-p collisions at a c.m. energy of 53 GeV. The mass spectrum of pairs of oppositely charged hadrons shows a strong correlation, which can be explained as a consequence of dominant vector meson production, accounting for more than 60% of all pions and kaons produced.
