We present a systematic investigation of channel cross sections in K − p interactions at 32 GeV/ c . The energy dependence of these cross sections is discussed. We also investigate a few non-diffractive two-body reactions. The total cross sections of the two reactions K − p → K ∗− (890) p and K − p → K ∗− (1420) p have a markedly different energy behaviour. There is clear evidence for the reaction K − p → K ∗0 (890) N 0 (1688) ; its differnttial cross section exhibits a sharp forward slope of 24 ± 3 GeV −2 .

We report on the measurement of the reaction e+e−→e+e− with a large—solid-angle electromagnetic shower detector at center-of-mass energies s=13 and 17 GeV. Comparison of our results with predictions of quantum electrodynamics shows excellent agreement in both the angular distribution and energy dependence. Values of cutoff parameters are also given.

Measurement of the Relative Total Hadronic Cross-section R at {PETRA}

Phys.Rev.Lett. 42 (1979) 1113, 1979.
Inspire Record 140059 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3235

We report the first measurement of the ratio R=(σe+e−→hadrons)(σe+e−→μ+μ−) (with negligible τ-lepton contribution) at a center-of-mass energy s=13 GeV and s=17 GeV, from the just finished electron-positron colliding-beam facility PETRA. The detector, MARK-J, has an approximately 4π solid angle and measures γ, e, μ, and charged and neutral hadrons simultaneously. Our results yield R(s=17 GeV)=4.9±0.6 (statistical) ±0.7 (systematic error), and R(s=13 GeV)=4.6±0.5 (statistical) ±0.7 (systematic error). The ratio R(s=17 GeV)R(s=13 GeV) is 1.08±0.18.

Vector and Tensor Meson Production in $K^- p$ Interactions at 32-{GeV}/$c$

Inclusive production of vector and tensor mesons is studied in a K − p experiment at 32 GeV/ c in the MIRABELLE bubble chamber. The K ∗ 0 (890) , ϱ 0 and ω cross sections are comparable, about 4 mb each. The K ∗ 0 (1420 and cross sections are also comparable, about 1 mb each. The K ∗ o ̈ + (890), Φ, K ∗ o ̈ − (1420) and f cross sections beam fragmentation; ϱ production is almost forward-backward symmetric in the c.m.s. The p T production slopes of K ∗ o ̈ − (890) and ϱ are similar, the Φ slope is shallower. Vector and tensor mesons alone are responsible for ≅50% (≅60%) of final-state pions

Proton - Helium Elastic Scattering From 40 to 400 GeV

CONF-780826-9, 1978.
Inspire Record 133837 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24088

The elastic proton-helium differential cross sections have been determined for 5 different incident laboratory energies from 40 to 400 GeV in the range 0.003 < l t I < 0.52 (GeV/c)2. The differential cross section drops 4 - 5 orders of magnitude to the first dip at I t I = 0.22 (GeV/c)2. A Glauber analysis is performed on the data. The inelastic intermediate states are found to be important. The shrinkage of the slope of the differential cross section is measured. The rate of shrinkage is twice as large as in the p-p case. Results on the real part of the elastic scattering amplitude at forward angle and at the dip structure ( l t l similar/equal to 0.22) are presented.

The Real Part of the p-p and p-d Forward Scattering Amplitudes from 50 GeV to 400 GeV

Phys.Rev.Lett. 41 (1978) 217, 1978.
Inspire Record 130086 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.11248

Proton-proton and proton-deuteron elastic scattering has been measured for incident laboratory energy from 50 to 400 GeV; minimum |t| values were, for p−p, 0.0005 (GeV/c)2, and for p−d, 0.0008 (GeV/c)2. From the differential cross sections we have determined the ratios of the real to imaginary parts of the forward scattering amplitude, ρpp and ρpd, for p−p and p−d scattering. Using a Glauber approach and a sum-of-exponentials form factor we obtain ρpn for p−n scattering.

Measurements of the Spin Rotation Parameter R in p p and pi+ p Elastic Scattering at 45-GeV/c

The spin rotation sf R in pp and π + p elastic scattering at 45 GeV/c has been measured at the Seppukhov accelarator, for z . sfnc ; t |; ranging from 0.2 to 0.5 (GeV/) 2 . The results are presented, together with previous R measurements at lower energies. The equality of the values for R in proton-proton and pion-proton scattering, within the experimental errors, is a test of factorization of the residues in the pomeron exchange.

Polarization Measurements in pi+ p, K+ p and p p Elastic Scattering at 45-GeV/c and Comparison with Regge Phenomenology

Phys.Lett.B 61 (1976) 103-106, 1976.
Inspire Record 113043 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27714

The polarization parameter P has been measured for elastic π + p, K + p and pp scattering at 45 GeV/c. Four-momentum transfer ranges from −0.08 to −1.1 (GeV/) 2 for pp, and from −0.08 to −0.9 (GeV/) 2 for π + p and K + p. The energy dependence of the polarization P ( t ) in π + p and in K + p above 6 GeV/c incident momentum is compatible with interference between pomeron and Regge poles. On the other hand, the polarization in p p elastic scattering decreases faster than ordinary Regge model predictions. This result can be explained by interference between non flip and flip amplitudes of the pomeron, leading to negative values for the polarization.
