Total cross sections for π − , K − and p on protons and deutrons have been measured in the momentum range 15 to 60 GeV/ c . Total cross sections for particle interactions with neutrons have been determined with an energy dependent Glauber correction. Using the positive particle data obtained earlier with the same experimental apparatus, the differences of total cross sections for particles and antiparticles as well as for particles belonging to the same isospin multiplet have been calculated.

A new method, using spark chambers, for the study of the reactions π ± + p → ϱ ± + p is described. The charged pion and both γ rays from the π ± decay are detected. Differential and integrated cross sections σ π + =50 ± 9 μ b, σ π − =47 ± 9 μ b) for 0.0 ⩽| t |⩽1. (GeV/ c ) 2 and a laboratory momentum ( p Lab ) of 15 GeV/c are presented. The momentum dependence of σ γ ± is well fitted from 2.7 to 16 GeV/c by σ = K p Lab − with n γ + = 1.80 ± 0.80 and n γ − = 1.87 ± 0.15.

The asymmetry ratioA = (σ⊥ -σ∥)/(σ⊥ +σ∥) has been measured by means of linearly polarized γ-rays for π0 and π+ photoproduction. For the reaction γ + p → n + π+, measurements were taken for θc.m. = 135° at γ-ray energies ranging from 390 to 909 MeV. For the reaction γ + p → p + π0, measurements were taken for θc.m. = 60° and 90° at γ-ray energies ranging from 426 to 918 Mev.

The elastic scattering of 600-MeV protons from light nuclei has been studied at the National Aeronautics Space Administration Space Radiation Effects Laboratory (SREL) synchrocyclotron. Differential cross sections have been obtained for the scattering of protons from hydrogen, deuterium, helium-3, and helium-4. Polarization was measured for deuterium and He4 nuclei. The p−p cross-section data are in excellent agreement with the predictions from the Livermore phase shifts. Small-angle p−D, p−He3 elastic scattering data are compared with calculations based on the multiple-scattering theories of Watson and Glauber.

We have measured the asymmetry parameter Σ=(σ∥−σ⊥)(σ∥+σ⊥) for the photoproduction of ϕ mesons with photons polarized parallel and perpendicular to the plane of decay for the reaction γp→ϕp→K+K−p. We find Σ=0.985±0.12 at a photon energy of 8.14 GeV and |t| of 0.2 (GeVc)2, consistent with pure diffraction production, or pure naturalparity Regge exchange.

From 2728 events of 205-GeV pp interactions found in 15 000 pictures taken with the 30-in. hydrogen bubble chamber at the National Accelerator Laboratory, a total cross section of 39.5±1.1 mb was measured. The mean charged-particle multiplicity for inelastic pp collisions was measured to be 7.65±0.17. The prong distribution from 2 to 22 prongs is broader than a Poisson distribution and has a width parameter f2−=〈n−(n−−1)〉−〈n−〉2=0.95±0.21.

Angular distributions of proton-proton elastic scattering have been measured for incident beam momenta of 10.0, 12.0, 14.2 and 24.0 GeV/ c over a range of lab scattering angles from 12 to 152 mrad. This is equivalent to a range of four-momentum transfer squared from about 0.1 to 6.7 GeV 2 at the highest momentum. Nucleon resonance production in the two-body reaction p + p → p + X has been studied at 24.0 GeV/ c incident momentum from 13.5 to 112 mrad by measuring the proton momentum spectra from the elastic peak down to a momentum corresponding to a missing mass of about 2.6 GeV. The new data are compared with previous results and theoretical models.

We have extracted the strong interaction form factors from K o e3 and K o μ3 data of our previously reported K o L experiment in a manner which does not assume an explicit q 2 = ( p K − p π ) 2 dependence. We present the unparameterized form factors ƒ + (q 2 ) from the K o L → πeν and K o L → πμν modes and ƒ o (q 2 ) and ξ ( q 2 ) from the K o L → πμν data. A comparison of these unparameterized results is made with the results of the Dalitz plot analyses.
The conventional form factor f+ is studied.
