Projectile fragmentation of Xe-129 at E(lab) = 790-A-MeV.

We have measured production yields and longitudinal momentum distributions of projectile-like fragments in the reaction 129Xe + 27Al at an energy of Elab=790 AMeV. Production cross sections higher than expected from systematics were observed for nuclei in the neutron-deficient tails of the isotopic distributions. A comparison with previously measured data from the fragmentation of 136Xe ions shows that the production yields strongly depend on the neutron excess of the projectile with respect to the line of beta-stability. The momentum distributions exhibit a dependence on the fragment neutron-to-proton ratio in isobaric chains, which was not expected from systematics so far. This can be interpreted by a higher excitation of the projectile during the formation of neutron-deficient fragments.

Inclusive Charged Hadron Spectra in $\nu A$ and $\bar{\nu} A$ Interactions at $E_{\nu/\bar{\nu}} < 30$-{GeV}

We present inclusive spectra of charged hadrons produced in$\begin{array}{*{20}c}{( - )}\\v\\ \end{array}$-Freon interactions at average beam energies of about 6 GeV. The experiment was done using the bubble chamber SKAT at the 70 GeV Serpukhov accelerator. In the hadronic energy range,W<5 GeV, dominantly isotropic events are found. The transverse momentum of the produced particles shows no strongW2-dependence. Feynman-scaling may be reached forW2≳10 GeV2, where also theż-spectra are described by the predictions of the parton model. All experimental data are reproduced rather well also by a Monte Carlo model based on ordinary phase space.

Longitudinal momentum distributions of π− mesons produced in 12.7 GeV/c K+p and 7 GeV/c π+p interactions

The center of mass longitudinal momentum distributions of π− mesons produced in K+p interactions at 12.7 GeV/c and in π+p interactions at 7 GeV/c exhibit an asymmetry similar to that observed, for example, in single particle production in 25 GeV/c π−p interactions. This asymmetry is discussed in terms of quark structure of hadrons and other dynamical models.
