The problem of the nuclear matter jets in nucleus-nucleus collisions at 4.5 A GeV/c is discussed. The global analysis of experimental data, namely the sphericity tensor, is used to evidence such jets.

A search is performed for the production of the ψ(2S) in e+e− annihilation at a center-of-mass energy of 4.03 GeV using the BES detector operated at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC). The kinematic features of the reconstructed ψ(2S) signal are consistent with its being produced only in association with an energetic photon resulting from initial state radiation (ISR). Limits are placed on ψ(2S) production from the decay of unknown charmonia or metastable hybrids that might be produced in e+e− annihilations at 4.03 GeV. Under the assumption that the observed cross section for ψ(2S) production is due entirely to ISR, the partial width Γee of the ψ(2S) is measured to be 2.07±0.32keV.
PSI(UNSPEC) is considered as a new 3D2 charmonium state. CHI/C(UNSPEC) is considered as any unknown charmonium state. EXOTIC is considered as a metastable hybrid.
A precise measurement of the ratio of Drell-Yan yields from an 800 GeV/c proton beam incident on hydrogen and deuterium targets is reported. Over 140,000 Drell-Yan muon pairs with dimuon mass M_{mu+ mu-} >= 4.5 GeV/c^2 were recorded. From these data, the ratio of anti-down (dbar) to anti-up (ubar) quark distributions in the proton sea is determined over a wide range in Bjorken-x. A strong x dependence is observed in the ratio dbar/ubar, showing substantial enhancement of dbar with respect to ubar for x<0.2. This result is in fair agreement with recent parton distribution parameterizations of the sea. For x>0.2, the observed dbar/ubar ratio is much nearer unity than given by the parameterizations.

We have studied the two reactions 12C(π+,pp) and 12C(π+,ppp) in one experiment, using the CHAOS spectrometer at TRIUMF, at incident pion energies of 200, 240, and 280 MeV. In both cases, we are able to distinguish between reaction mechanisms involving only the detected protons, and those in which additional nucleons must have participated, on the basis of missing momentum. In the case of 12C(π+,ppp), we identify events due to the two step process of π+p quasielastic scattering followed by two-nucleon absorption. Estimates are made for the total cross sections for the various absorption mechanisms.
The total observed cross sections are not corrected for limited experimental acceptance. No errors are given. The comments (C=MNKO), (C=2NP), and (C=GT2NP) stand for multy nucleon knockout, 2 nucleons participated, and more than 2 nucleons participated, respectively.
The $pp \to pp \eta^{\prime}$ (958) reaction has been measured at COSY using the internal beam and the COSY-11 facility. The total cross sections at the four different excess energies \mbox{$ Q = ~1.5 ~MeV, ~1.7 ~MeV, ~2.9 ~MeV,$ and $ ~4.1 MeV$} have been evaluated to be \mbox{$ \sigma = 2.5 \pm 0.5~nb$, $~~~ 2.9 \pm 1.1~nb$, $~~~ 12.7 \pm 3.2~nb$, ~ and $~~~ 25.2 \pm 3.6 ~nb $}, respectively. In this region of excess energy the $\eta^{\prime}$ (958) cross sections are much lower compared to those of the $\pi ^0$ and $\eta$ production.
Only statistical errors are presented in the table.
We have searched for central production of a pair of photons with high transverse energies in $p\bar p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.8$ TeV using $70 pb^{-1}$ of data collected with the D\O detector at the Fermilab Tevatron in 1994--1996. If they exist, virtual heavy pointlike Dirac monopoles could rescatter pairs of nearly real photons into this final state via a box diagram. We observe no excess of events above background, and set lower 95% C.L. limits of $610, 870, or 1580 GeV/c^2$ on the mass of a spin 0, 1/2, or 1 Dirac monopole.

The energy dependence of the total cross section for the pp \to pK^+\Lambda reaction was measured in the threshold region covering the excess energy range up to 7MeV. Existing model calculations describe the slope of the measured cross sections well, but are too low by a factor of two to three in rate. The data were used for a precise determination of the beam momentum of the COSY-synchrotron.
Only statistical errors are presented in the table.
We have searched for the rare decay W±→π±+γ in 83 pb−1 of data taken in proton-antiproton collisions at s=1.8 TeV with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We find three events in the signal region and estimate the background to be 5.2±1.5 events. We set a 95% confidence level upper limit of 7×10−4 on the ratio of partial widths, Γ(W±→π±+γ)/Γ(W±→e±+ν).

A study has been made of pseudoscalar mesons produced centrally in pp interactions. The results show that the eta and etaprime appear to have a similar production mechanism which differs from that of the pi0. The production properties of the eta and etaprime are not consistent with what is expected from double Pomeron exchange. In addition the production mechanism for the eta and etaprime is such that the production cross section are greatest when the azimuthal angle between the pT vectors of the two protons is 90 degrees.

Resonance production as a function of dPT - the difference in the transverse momentum vectors of the two exchange particles, expressed as a percentage of its total contribution.
T distributions have been fitted to the form D(SIG)/D(T) = const(NAME=ALPHA)*EXP(-SLOPE(C=1)*T) + const(NAME=BETA)*T**2*EXP(-SLOPE(C=2)*T).
Using a sample of 10 8 triggered events, produced in π − −Cu interactions at 350 GeV/ c , we have identified 26 beauty events. The estimated background in this sample is 0.6 ± 0.6 events. From these data, assuming a linear A-dependence, we measure a beauty production cross section integrated over all χ F of 5.7 −1.1 +1.3 (stat.) −0.5 +0.6 (syst.) nb/N.
