Charged and Identified Particles in the Hadronic Decay of W Bosons and in e+e- -> q qbar from 130 to 200 GeV

Inclusive distributions of charged particles in hadronic W decays are experimentally investigated using the statistics collected by the DELPHI experiment at LEP during 1997, 1998 and 1999, at centre-of-mass energies from 183 to around 200 GeV. The possible effects of interconnection between the hadronic decays of two Ws are not observed. Measurements of the average multiplicity for charged and identified particles in q qbar and WW events at centre-of-mass energies from 130 to 200 GeV and in W decays are presented. The results on the average multiplicity of identified particles and on the position xi^* of the maximum of the xi_p = -log(2p/sqrt(s)) distribution are compared with predictions of JETSET and MLLA calculations.

Production of K0 and Lambda in hadronic Z decays

Measurements of the inclusive cross-sections forK0 and Λ production in hadronic decays of the Z are presented together with measurements of two-particle correlations within pairs of Λ andK0. The results are compared with predictions from the hadronization models Jetset, based on string fragmentation, and Herwig, based on cluster decays. TheK0 spectrum is found to be harder than predicted by both models, while the Λ spectrum is softer than predicted. The correlation measurements are all reproduced well by Jetset, while Herwig misses some of the qualitative features and overestimates the size of the\(\Lambda \bar \Lambda \) correlation. Finally, the possibility of Bose-Einstein correlation in theKS0KS0 system is discussed.

K*0 AND K0(S) MESON PRODUCTION IN e+ e- ANNIHILATIONS AT 29-GeV

The inclusive production cross sections and transverse momentum distributions of K*0 and KS0 mesons in e+e− annihilation at a center-of-mass energy of 29 GeV have been measured by means of the time projection chamber detector in the PEP-4 experiment. The mean multiplicites are found to be 0.49 ± 0.04(stat.) ± 0.07(syst.) (K*0+K―*0) and 1.22 ± 0.03(stat.) ±0.15(syst.) (K0+K―0) per event.
