The polarization for the K + n elastic and charge-exchange reactions was measured at the momenta of 1.06, 1.28, 1.39 and 1.49 GeV/ c . It was found to be negative for the K + n elastic process and generally positive for the charge-exchange process. The present results are compared with the predictions of phase shift analyses.

The polarization in K + n↑ → K 0 p has been measured at 6 and 12 GeV/ c in the interval 0.1 < |t| < 1.0 using a polarized deuteron target. The results are compared to predictions from SU(3), exchange degeneracy (EXD) and line reserval, and from various phenomenological models.

A Comparison of K+- n Charge Exchange Reactions at 8.5-GeV/c and 13-GeV/c

Phys.Rev.Lett. 40 (1978) 6, 1978.
Inspire Record 120363 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20886

The cross sections for the line-reversed reaction pairs K+n→K0p and K−p→K¯0n, and K+p→K0Δ++ and K−n→K¯0Δ− have been determined with high statistics and good relative normalization at 8.36 and 12.8 GeV/c in a spectrometer experiment at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The cross sections for the K+-induced reactions are larger than for the K−, contrary to the expectations of weakly-exchange-degenerate Regge-pole models. The ratio of the reaction cross sections is about the same as at lower energies and shows little change with momentum transfer.

Low Momentum K+ d Scattering

The differential cross sections for K+d coherent, breakup, and charge-exchange scattering have been measured at several momenta in the interval 250-600 MeV/c. The data have been fitted using a partial-wave analysis. Assuming an s-wave description of I=1 scattering and using data from the coherent and charge-exchange channels, a description of I=0 K+−N scattering by a combination of s and p waves in a simple single-scattering impulse model has been attempted. The phase shifts obtained are unique up to the Fermi-Yang ambiguity, which can be removed by using existing polarization results at 600 MeV/c.

Recent interest in the low-energy kaon-nucleon system has been substantially motivated by the possible existence of an exotic positive-strangeness, isospin-zero baryon resonance. We report here measurements of the cross section and differential cross section for K+n charge-exchange scattering in our exposure of the BNL 30-inch deuterium bubble chamber to a K+ beam at 0.7, 0.8; and 0.9 GeV/c. We compare our results with previous results and with the predictions of a recently published phase-shift analysis.

A Study of K+ n Charge Exchange at 2-GeV/c-3-GeV/c

In an experiment with the 1.5 m bubble chamber at the Rutherford Laboratory, the reaction K + d→K 0 pp has been studied at beam momenta of 2.2, 2.45 and 2.7 GeV/ c . The cross section for the reaction K + n→K 0 p has been estimated and found to be approximately twice that of the line-reversed reaction K − p → K 0 n at comparable energies. An SU(3) sum rule, due to Barger and Cline, has been tested and found not to be valid in this momentum range. The differential cross section for K + n→K 0 p has also been measured and a determination made of the imaginary to real ratio of the forward amplitude, using the optical theorem. Implications of these, and other results, for various Regge models are briefly discussed.

Line Reversal Breaking in K+- n Charge Exchange and K+- n --> K0 Delta (1236) at 4-GeV/c and 6-GeV/c

Phys.Lett.B 61 (1976) 483-486, 1976.
Inspire Record 2871 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27677

Differential cross sections for the line-reversed reaction pairs K + 0p → K o Δ ++ (1236), K − n → K ̄ o Δ − (1236) and K − p → K ̄ o n , K + n → K o p have been measured with good statistics at 4 and 6 GeV/ c . The line reversal breaking for the Δ (1236) reactions is found to have no significant variation with energy and to be larger than for the charge exchange reactions. The cross sections for all four reactions show a dip in the forward direction, indicating the importance of spin-flip amplitudes.

Elastic and charge-exchange K + n differential cross sections have been measured from K + d interactions from 430 to 940 MeV/ c using spark chambers and scintillation counters. The data have been compared with existing results and in an accompanying paper have been included with other measurements in a phase-shift analysis.

Systematic Study of K+- Charge Exchange from 3-GeV/c to 6-GeV/c

Diebold, R. ; Ayres, D.S. ; Greene, A.F. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 32 (1974) 904, 1974.
Inspire Record 89016 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21284

Differential cross sections for K−p→K¯0n and K+n→K0p have been measured at 3, 4, and 6 GeV/c using a data sample of 6000 events. Contrary to simple exchange-degenerate models, the ratio of K+ to K− cross sections was found to be approximately 1.35, with little dependence on either s or t. Both reactions show a shallow dip near the forward direction, suggesting the importance of spin-flip amplitudes.
