K − p reactions have been studied at 13 different incident momenta between 1138 and 1434 MeV/ c . This interval corresponds to a mass of the K − p system varying from 1858 to 1993 MeV. About 300 000 photographs were taken in the 81 cm Saclay hydrogen bubble chamber exposed to a separated K − beam at the CERN proton-synchrotron. A total of about 44 000 events were analyzed, from which partial and differential cross sections were determined. Polarizations were obtained for the two-body reactions where the decay of the Λ or Σ hyperon allowed their measurement. Data for the two-body channels are presented here as well as for the main quasi-two-body reactions.

In an experiment on K--proton interactions in a hydrogen bubble chamber, the cross sections and angular distributions have been studied for elastic and charge-exchange scattering, and charged sigma hyperon production in the momentum range 90-300 MeV/c. Good agreement is found with previous cross sections except for the charge-exchange channel where the new values are 60% larger. The production distributions of the charged sigma hyperons and the polarisation of the Sigma + hyperon clearly indicate that P waves are present down to about 150 MeV/c, much lower than previously reported.

We present the results on total channel cross-sections obtained in the Saclay 180 l HBC exposed to a separated K− beam at Nimrod. The cross-sections for each channel are given at 13 incident K− momenta between 1.26 and 1.84 GeV/c.

The reaction K−n→Σ−η has been studied near threshold. The production angular distribution and the cross-section as a function of energy were measured. The combined angular distributions of this experiment and two previous ones suggest that aJ=1/2 amplitude dominates in Σ−η production. Our cross-section can be fitted with a Σ−1η resonance of mass 1785±12 and width 89±33, or it can be fitted in a zero-effective-range scattering approximation with a scattering length of (0.92±0.12)±i(0.04±0.28) fm.

Data are presented from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment to study K − p interactions in the c.m. energy range 1775 to 1957 MeV. For the reactions K − p → K − p, K − p → K 0 n , K − p → Λπ 0 and K − p → Σ ± π ∓ channel cross sections, differential cross sections and, where appropriate, polarisation distributions have been obtained. The channel cross sections for K − p → Σ 0 π 0 are presented. In general the results are in agreement with those previously published although a significant discrepancy has been found in the Σ ± π ∓ cross sections at the lower energies. New measurements of the Σ ± lifetimes have also been obtained ( τ Σ − = 1.49 ± 0.03 × 10 −10 sec, τ Σ + = 0.807 ± 0.013 × 10 −10 sec).

We present the results of a formation experiment for the reactions K±p→Σ±π± in the c.m.s. energy between 2200 and 2436 MeV with a total statistics of 10 ev/μb. We present differential cross sections and the Σ + polarization for the reactions K − p → π ∓ Σ ± using data from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment at 4.2 GeV/ c incident momentum. The statistical level allows a detailed analysis of these reactions over the whole t range. Several significant structures are observed. Comparisons are made with SU(3)-related reactions; for backward production of π − Σ + such a comparison shows good evidence for Δ exchange. The exotic forward peak in K − p → π + Σ − is definitely confirmed.
