The results on the differential cross sections as well as the polarizations of $\Lambda$ and $\Sigma^0$ have been obtained for $\bar{K}^0 n$, $\pi^0 \Lambda$, and $\pi^0 \Sigma^0$ production in $K^- p$ interactions at eight $K^-$ momenta between 514 and 750 MeV/$c$. The study is conducted by measuring multiphoton final states with the Crystal Ball spectrometer, using a $K^-$ beam from the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron of BNL. The results improve substantially the existing data, allowing a detailed reexamination of the $\Lambda^*$ and $\Sigma^*$ states in our energy range.

Comparison of 20 exclusive reactions at large t

White, C. ; Appel, R. ; Barton, D.S. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 49 (1994) 58-78, 1994.
Inspire Record 377535 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.50306

We report a study of 20 exclusive reactions measured at the AGS at 5.9 GeV/c incident momentum, 90° center of mass. This experiment confirms the strong quark flow dependence of two-body hadron-hadron scattering at large angle. At 9.9 GeV/c an upper limit had been set for the ratio of cross sections for (p¯p→p¯p)(pp→pp) at 90° c.m., with the ratio less than 4%. The present experiment was performed at lower energy to gain sensitivity, but was still within the fixed angle scaling region. A ratio R(p¯ppp)≈140 was measured at 5.9 GeV/c, 90° c.m. in comparison to a ratio near 1.7 for small angle scattering. In addition, many other reactions were measured, often for the first time at 90° c.m. in the scaling region, using beams of π±, K±, p, and p¯ on a hydrogen target. There are similar large differences in cross sections for other reactions: R(K−p→π+Σ−K−p→π−Σ+)≈112, for example. The relative magnitudes of the different cross sections are consistent with the dominance of quark interchange in these 90° reactions, and indicate that pure gluon exchange and quark-antiquark annihilation diagrams are much less important. The angular dependence of several elastic cross sections and the energy dependence at a fixed angle of many of the reactions are also presented.

Reaction K- p --> Lambda pi0 from 1647-MeV to 1715-MeV

Inspire Record 104824 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24846

This paper contains the results of a study of the reaction K−p→Λπ0 in the center-of-mass-system-energy region of 1647 to 1715 MeV. An energy-dependent partial-wave analysis was performed in this channel. Two allowable solutions were obtained. The first solution in this region contains the D13[t=0.08±0.01, Γ(ER)=44±11 MeV, and ER=1671±3 MeV] partial wave as the only resonant amplitude; the second solution contains both the P11[t=0.16±0.01, Γ(ER)=81±10 MeV, and ER=1671±2 MeV] and the D13[t=0.17±0.01, Γ(ER)=76±5 MeV, and ER=1655±2 MeV] partial wave as resonant.

Differential cross sections and polarizations are presented for the reactions K − p → Λπ 0 , Λη , Λη ′ at 8.25 GeV/ c incident K − momentum. The data, which come from a high statistics experiment in the CERN 2 m bubble chamber, are compared with previous experimental results on the same reactions and with current theoretical ideas.

Nucl.Phys.B 64 (1973) 109-133, 1973.
Inspire Record 94945 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32478

A study has been made of the individual channels that contribute to the reaction K − p → Λ 0 + neutrals in the K − momentum range from 525 to 820 MeV/ c . Total cross sections are presented for the K − p → Λ 0 η 0 , Σ 0 Σ 0 π 0 , Λ 0 π 0 , Σ 0 π 0 and Σ 0 π 0 π 0 channels and differential cross sections for K − p → Λ 0 π 0 . The data were obtained in a heavy liquid bubble chamber experiment with an average gamma detection efficiency of 70%. Only events with all decay gammas detected were used for analysis. This is the first of a series of papers on this subject and presents the experimental technique in detail.

Study of the Reactions K- p ---> Lambda0+ in the C.M. Range from 1580 to 1750 MeV

Results on the channels K − p → Λ 0 η 0 , Λ 0 π 0 , Σ 0 π 0 , Λ 0 π 0 π 0 and Σ 0 π 0 π 0 are obtained in a K − p formation experiment using 1 million photographs taken in a heavy liquid bubble chamber filled with a CF 3 BrC 3 H 8 mixture. The results are compared with hydrogen bubble chamber (HBC) experiments and with experiments having full or partial gamma-ray detection. Our Λ 0 π 0 and Λ 0 + neutral cross section agree with HBC results. Our Σ 0 π 0 cross section does not exhibit a bump at 1670 MeV as previously seen in HBC experiments. Our Λ 0 π 0 π 0 data are dominated by a Σ (1385) π 0 production. Our Σ 0 π 0 π 0 data is consistent with the presence of some Σ (1405) π 0 production.
