The pp total, elastic, and all the inelastic cross sections were measured at 11 momenta in the range 0.9–2.0 GeV/c. No clear structure was observed in their momentum dependences. The momentum dependence of the total cross section agrees quite well with the result of a phase-shift analysis by Arndt. Our measurement of the ppπ 0 and pnπ + cross sections served to normalize the earlier systematic but relative and extrapolated measurements of these cross sections over a narrower momentum range. Calculations by König and Kroll based on a pion exchange model including the effect of an I = 1 dibaryon did not fit the single-pion production cross sections.

ANGULAR AND ENERGY DEPENDENCE OF THE CROSS-SECTION AND ANALYZING POWER OF THE REACTION P P ----> D PI+ BETWEEN 725-MEV AND 1000-MEV

The differential cross section and analyzing power of the reaction pp → d π + were measured for nine incident proton energies between 725 and 1000 MeV. A magnetic spectrometer was used to detect either deuterons or pions. Cross-section and analyzing-power angular distributions were respectively fitted with Legendre polynomial and associated Legendre function expansions, the coefficients of which were found to vary smoothly with energy in the vicinity of the alleged 3 F 3 dibaryon resonance.

Phys.Lett.B 120 (1983) 309-313, 1983.
Inspire Record 190882 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30825

The analyzing power A y 0 in the reaction p↑p→dπ + has been measured using the polarized proton beam at Argonne National Laboratory's zero gradient synchrotron. Data were taken at beam momenta of 1.17, 1.47, 1.70, and 1.96 GeV/ c and for pion center of mass angles from 8° to 163°.
