The proton-antiproton total cross section was measured at the CM energy √s = 546 GeV . The result is σ tot = 61.9± 1.5 mb . The ratio of the elastic to the total cross section is σ e ℓ / σ tot = 0.215±0.005. A comparison to the lower energy data shows that the increase of the total cross section with energy is very close to a log 2 s behaviour.

Search for a Threshold Enhancement in the $\gamma (p) \to$ Charmed Baryon + Charmed Meson Cross-section

The SLAC Hybrid Facility Photon collaboration Abe, K. ; Bacon, T.C. ; Bingham, H.H. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 30 (1984) 694, 1984.
Inspire Record 200010 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23592

Results of a search for a predicted enhancement of several microbarns in the charm-photoproduction cross section just above threshold are reported. No charm decays were detected, from which an upper limit to the charm cross section of 94 nb (90% C.L.) at Eγ≃10 GeV was obtained. Upper limits in the range 270 to 450 nb were also obtained for the peak cross sections for threshold enhancements in γp→D−Σc++ and similar channels.

The Reactions $K^- p \to \pi^\mp \Sigma^\pm$ (1385) at 8.25-{GeV}/$c$

Z.Phys.C 23 (1984) 213, 1984.
Inspire Record 199642 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.16327

The reactionsK−p→π∓Σ(1385)± are studied at an incident laboratory momentum of 8.25 GeV/c using data from a high statistics (≃180 events/μb) bubble chamber experiment. In the case of the reactionK−p→π−Σ(1385)+ an amplitude analysis is performed and the complete Σ(1385)+ spin density matrix is extracted as a function oft′. The results are compared with the predictions of the additive quark model. In the case of the reactionK−p→π+Σ(1385)− the cross-sections for forward and backward production are determined.

Diffractive Production of $K^0_s K^0_s \pi^+ \pi^- \pi^-$ in $\pi^-N$ Interactions at 200-GeV/c

Phys.Rev.D 29 (1984) 1888-1894, 1984.
Inspire Record 194648 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23730

The diffractive dissociation of a 200-GeV/c π− beam into KS0KS0π+π−π− has been observed. The diffractive KS0KS0π+π−π− cross section is 1.59±0.78 μb. The ratio of the diffractive KS0KS0π+π−π− cross section to the diffractive KS0KS0π− cross section is 0.40±0.13, which is in good agreement with a diffractive-fragmentation-model prediction of 0.36. There is evidence for simultaneous production of K*− and K*+ in the diffractive KS0KS0π+π−π− sample. The K*+−KS0π−+ mass distribution shows an enhancement near 1.95 GeV.

EXPERIMENTAL SEARCH FOR NARROW RESONANCES IN THE REACTION PI- P ---> GAMMA GAMMA N AT 13-GEV/C

Phys.Lett.B 140 (1984) 145-148, 1984.
Inspire Record 206508 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30553

Using a double arm electromagnetic calorimeter we have searched for narrow states produced in the exclusive reaction π − p→γγn at 13 GeV/c. No enhancements were observed in the mass range 2.0–4.0 GeV/c 2 . For example, the 90% confidence limit on η c production is σ ( π − p→ η c n)× B ( η c → γγ ) < 44 pb.

ELECTROPRODUCTION OF ETA MESONS IN THE REGION OF THE RESONANCE S11 (1535) AT MOMENTUM TRANSFERS OF 2-GEV**2 AND 3-GEV**2

Inspire Record 203579 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.16229

We report on results of η-electroproduction in the resonance region at momentum transfers ofQ2=2 GeV2 and 3 GeV2. The differential cross sections obtained in the region of the second nucleon resonance strongly support the dominance of theS11(1535) in this channel. The total transverse virtual photoproduction cross section of theS11(1535) shows a flatQ2-dependence ∼e−0.39·Q2. Comparison with the total resonant γvp cross section in the second resonance region aroundW=1.5 GeV shows that theD13(1520) production decreases much faster (∼e−1.6·Q2). The data are not compatible with the simple harmonic oscillator quark model with spin and orbit excitation of a quark only.

Photoproduction of $K \bar{K} \pi$ Final States in the Photon Energy Range From 20-{GeV} to 70-{GeV}

Nucl.Phys.B 231 (1984) 1-14, 1984.
Inspire Record 191239 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33920

The reactions γ p→K + K − π 0 (p) and γ p→ K s 0 K ± π ± (p) have been measured using tagged photons in the energy range 20 to 70 GeV. No resonance structure is observed in either of the K K π invariant mass distributions, which range from threshold up to ∼ 3 GeV. The photoproduction cross sections for φπ 0 and K ∗ (892)K are presented and are compared with theoretical predictions. No evidence has been found for the photoproduction of φ′ (1680).

Highlights of the Reaction $\pi^- p \to \pi^- \pi^+ n$ at 100-{GeV}/$c$ and 175-{GeV}/$c$

We present a summary of the physics results from an experimental study of the reaction π−p→π−π+n at 100 and 175 GeV/c incident-beam momentum. Our data show the continuing dominance of one-pion exchange in these reactions with the characteristic 1Plab2 momentum dependence. We extract the pion Regge trajectory from our data on π−p→ρ0n and study the zero structure of the ππ differential cross section up to sππ=12 GeV2.
