We present a limit on $\nu_\mu(\overline{\nu}_\mu)\to\nu_\tau(\overline{\nu}_\tau)$ oscillations based on a study of inclusive $\nu N$ interactions performed using the CCFR massive coarse grained detector in the FNAL Tevatron Quadrupole Triplet neutrino beam. The sensitivity to oscillations is from the difference in the longitudinal energy deposition pattern of $\nu_\mu N$ versus $\nu_\tau N$ charged current interactions. The $\nu_\mu$ energies ranged from $30$ to $500$GeV with a mean of $140$GeV. The minimum and maximum $\nu_\mu$ flight lengths are $0.9$km and $1.4$km respectively. The lowest $90\%$ confidence upper limit in $\sin~22\alpha$ of $2.7\times 10~{-3}$ is obtained at $\Delta m~2\sim50$eV$~2$. This result is the most stringent limit to date for $25<\Delta m~2<90$eV$~2$.

The NuTeV experiment at Fermilab has obtained a unique high statistics sample of neutrino and anti-neutrino interactions using its high-energy sign-selected beam. We present a measurement of the differential cross section for charged-current neutrino and anti-neutrino scattering from iron. Structure functions, F_2(x,Q^2) and xF_3(x,Q^2), are determined by fitting the inelasticity, y, dependence of the cross sections. This measurement has significantly improved systematic precision as a consequence of more precise understanding of hadron and muon energy scales.

A search for supersymmetric electron production via the reaction e+e−→e±γ̃ẽ∓ followed by the decay ẽ∓→e∓γ̃ has been performed with the MAC detector at the electron-positron storage ring PEP. No candidates were found in a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.4 pb−1. For a massless γ̃ this corresponds to a lower limit on the ẽ mass of 22.4 GeV/c2 at the 95% confidence level.

Most events with high neutral transverse energy, E T 0 , produced in pp colisions at √ s = 62.3 GeV, are jet-like. The evidence for this is presented, based on data collected using an electromagnetic calorimeter covering 90% of 2π in azimuth. The spectrum d N /d E T 0 has been measured over the E T 0 range from 10 to 35 GeV. Properties of the observed jets are discussed.

A sample of 105 e + e − events with an invariant mass greater than 11 GeV/ c 2 produced in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 62.3 GeV is discussed. Cross sections are presented as a function of mass and transverse momentum. The multiplicity, transverse momentum, and azimuthal dependence of associated particles are also studied.

A total of 22 muon-neutrino-electron elastic-scattering events (νμe→νμe) have been observed in an exposure of the Fermilab 15-foot bubble chamber filled with a heavy neon-hydrogen mixture to a wide-band neutrino beam. The elastic-scattering cross section is measured to be 1.67±0.44×10−42Eν cm2 GeV−1. The value of the weak mixing angle (sin2θW) determined from this cross section, which is consistent with other measurements of this angle, is 0.20−0.05+0.06.

We have measured the ratio of the strong coupling constants α s for bottom quarks and light quarks at the Z 0 resonance, in order to test the flavour independence of the strong interaction. The coupling strength α s has been determined from the fraction of events with three jets, measured for a sample of all hardronic events, and for inclusive muon and electron events. The b purity is evaluated to be 22% for the first data set and 87% for the inclusive lepton sample. We find α s ( b ) α s ( udsc ) =1.00± 0.05 ( stat. )±0.06 ( syst. ) .

A recent spin-parity analysis of the π + π + π − system formed opposite a proton and a coherent deuteron by incident 13 GeV/ c 2 π + mesons, is extended to a three-pion mass of 1.9 GeV/ c . Relative proportions of the contributing partial waves are presented, from threshold, and the A 3 region is discussed in detail. Contrary to results with the (3 π ) − system, a change in phase is noted for the 2 − amplitude decaying to f 0 π + via am S-wave.
