The inclusive production of Ξ + and Ξ − hyperons is investigated in K + p interactions at 32 GeV/ c . The production cross sections, 36.4±9 μ b for the Ξ + and 6.5±3 μ b for the Ξ − , are rising strongly with energy similarly to Λ and Λ production in K + p interactions. The Ξ + are produced preferentially in the forward direction in the c.m.s., while the Ξ − are produced dominantly backwards. The average transverse momenta 〈p T 〉 Ξ + =0.73±0.09 GeV /c and 〈 p T 〉 Ξ − =0.58±0.09 GeV/ c .

We report on a study of inclusive particle production in pp-interactions at 400 GeV/c. The data are based on 472 K reconstructed events recorded in the NA 27 experiment using the LEBC-EHS facility at CERN. The production cross sections are determined of pseudo scalar (π±,0, η andK±), scalar (f0(975)), vector (ρ±,0(770), ω(783), ϕ(1020),K*0(892), and\(\bar K^{ * 0} \)(892)), and tensorf0 mesons, of protons and antiprotons, and theΔ++,+,0(1232), and Λ(1520) baryon resonances in the forward hemisphere of the center of mass system, as well as longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions. The results are compared with predictions of the FRITIOF model and with other experimental data.

Data are presented on inclusiveKs0 and Λ production inK+ and π+ collisions with Al and Au nuclei at 250 GeV/c. Results are given on total inclusive cross sections and theA dependence, as well as on distributions in Feynman-xF, rapidityy and transverse momentum. A detailed analysis of the inclusive production of the vector mesonsφ,K*+,0(892)\(\bar K*^0 (892),\rho ^{ + ,0} ,\omega \) and the tensor mesonsK2*0)(1430) andf2(1270) inK+p interactions at 250 GeV/c is presented The data are compared with results at lower energies and with various quark-parton models. The production ofρ0,K*0(892) and\(\bar K*^0 (892)\) increases at the same rate as a function ofs, is concentrated in the central region and is not reproduced by the models. Production of the tensor mesonsf2(1270) andK2*0(1340) is suppressed relative toρ0 andK*0(892) by a factor of about 3.

We report on a study of ρ0, ρ+, ω,\(\bar K^{*0} (892)\) andK*0 (892) inclusive production in π+p interactions at 250 GeV/c, for ρ+,\(\bar K^{*0} (892)\) for the first time in a π+p experiment. The data are compared withK+p data in the same experiment, with results of other experiments and with quark-parton models. Interesting differences are found between ρ+,0 and ω production.

The production of K S 0 , Λ and Λ in π − p ractions at 16 GeV/ c is investigated. Cross sections for single strange particles are determined, both inclusively and as functions of the charged multiplicity. Some characteristics of the multiplicity distributions are also discussed. Inclusive distributions are studied as a function of the longitudinal and transverse variables of V 0 and the missing mass squared. The average charged multiplicities of the systems recoiling against the Λ and K S 0 are presented.

The nuclear dependence for 800 GeV/c proton production of neutron D mesons has been measured near xF=0 in Experiment 789 at Fermilab. D mesons from beryllium and gold targets were detected with a pair spectrometer and a silicon vertex detector via their decay D→Kπ. No nuclear dependence is found, with a measured α=1.02±0.03±0.02. The measured differential cross section, dσ/dxF, for neutral-D-meson production at 〈xF〉=0.031 is 58±3±7 μb/nucleon. The integrated cross section obtained by extrapolation of the measured cross section to all xF is 17.7±0.9±3.4 μb/nucleon and is consistent with previous measurements.
