We present results from a search for anomalous WW and WZ production in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV. We used ppbar->evjjX events observed during the 1992-1993 run of the Fermilab Tevatron collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 13.7 +- 0.7 pb^-1. A fit to the transverse momentum spectrum of the W boson yields direct limits on the CP-conserving anomalous WWgamma and WWZ coupling parameters of -0.9 < delta kappa < 1.1 (with lambda = 0) and -0.6 < lambda < 0.7 (with delta kappa = 0) at the 95% confidence level, for a form factor scale Lambda = 1.5 TeV, assuming that the WWgamma and WWZ coupling parameters are equal.

We present a measurement of the forward-backward charge asymmetry of the process pp¯→Z0/γ+X,Z0/γ→e+e− at Mee>MZ, using 110pb−1 of data at s=1.8TeV collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The measured charge asymmetries are 0.43±0.10 in the invariant mass region Mee>105GeV/c2, and 0.070±0.016 in the region 75

The forward-backward asymmetry resuts from angular differential cross section : D(SIG)/D(COS(THETA*) = A*(1 + COS(THETA*)**2) + B*COS(THETA*), where THETA * is the emission angle of the E- relative to the quark momentum in the rest frame of the E+ E- pair.

anti-p p annihilation cross-section at very low-energy

The OBELIX collaboration Bertin, A ; Bruschi, M ; Capponi, M ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 369 (1996) 77-85, 1996.
Inspire Record 428399 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28410

The p̄p total annihilation cross section has been measured, with the Obelix apparatus at LEAR, at ten values of the antiproton incident momentum between 43 and 175 MeV/ c . The values of the cross section show that the well known 1 p behaviour of the annihilation cross section is drastically modified at very low momenta, which demonstrates the important role of the Coulomb force in low energy p̄p interaction. Moreover, they do not present any explicit resonant behaviour. Finally, when compared to potential model calculations, the data suggest that the percentage of P-wave in p̄p interaction around 50 MeV/ c antiproton incident momentum is less than 5%.

Neutral pion photoproduction from the proton near threshold

Fuchs, M ; Ahrens, J ; Anton, G ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 368 (1996) 20-25, 1996.
Inspire Record 428389 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28430

Differential and total cross sections for the photoproduction of neutral pions from the proton have been measured for incident photon energies from 140–270 MeV, using the photon spectrometer TAPS at the tagged photon beam of the 855 MeV Mainz Microtron. The energy dependence of the s- and p-wave multipoles close to threshold was deduced from a multipole fit and a multipole analysis. The extracted s-wave amplitude E 0+ at threshold is found to be significantly smaller than the prediction of the classical low energy theorems, but is in reasonable agreement with the chiral perturbation theory.

Measurement of pi+ p (polarized) analyzing power at 68.3-MeV

Inspire Record 429106 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.25768

The analyzing power Ay for π+p→ scattering at 68.3 MeV has been measured at the Paul Scherrer Institut with the magnetic spectrometer LEPS. The measurements cover the angular range 40°≤θlab≤70°. The protons have been polarized in a butanol target, operated in frozen spin mode. The S31 phase shift comes out by about 1° smaller than the Koch-Pietarinen [Nucl. Phys. A 336, 331 (1980)] phase shift analysis, supporting the necessity of an alternative dispersion analysis of πN scattering to determine the σ term and the πN coupling constant. © 1996 The American Physical Society.

Protonium annihilation into K(S) K(L) at three different target densities

The frequency of the protonium annihilation channel p p → K S K L has been measured at three different target densities: liquid hydrogen ( LH ), gaseous hydrogen at NTP conditions and gaseous hydrogen at low pressure (5 mbar). The obtained results are: f( p p → K S K L , LH) = (7.8 ± 0.7 stat ± 0.3 sys ) × 10 −4 , f( p p → K S K L , NTP) = (3.5 ± 0.5 stat ± 0.2 sys ) × 10 −4 and f( p p → K S K L , 5 mbar ) = (1.0 ± 0.3 stat ± 0.1 sys ) × 10 −4 . Since the K S K L final stat and be originated only from the 3 S 1 initial state, these values give direct information on the scaling of the protonium spin-triplet S-wave annihilation probability with the density.

Phys.Lett.B 365 (1996) 427-430, 1996.

A new measurement of the total e + e − → hadrons cross-section in the centre of mass energy range 1.8-2.5 GeV, performed by the FENICE experiment at the Frascati e + e − storage ring ADONE, is presented. The behaviour of the total cross section together with the proton electromagnetic time-like form factor is discussed in terms of a narrow vector resonance close to the nucleon-antinucleon threshold.

We analyze a sample of W + jet events collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV to study ttbar production. We employ a simple kinematical variable "H", defined as the scalar sum of the transverse energies of the lepton, neutrino and jets. For events with a W boson and four or more jets, the shape of the "H" distribution deviates by 3.8 standard deviations from that expected from known backgrounds to ttbar production. However this distribution agrees well with a linear combination of background and ttbar events, the agreement being best for a top mass of 180 GeV/c^2.

We confirm the existence of the two I G ( J PC ) = 0 + (0 ++ ) resonances f 0 (1370) and f 0 (1500) reported by us in earlier analyses. The analysis presented here couples the final states π 0 π 0 π 0 , π 0 π 0 η and π 0 ηη of p p annihilation at rest. It is based on a 3 × 3 K -matrix. We find masses and widths of M = (1390±30) MeV, Γ = (380±80) MeV; and M = (1500±10) MeV, Γ = (154 ± 30) MeV, respectively. The product branching ratios for the production and decay into π 0 π 0 and ηη of the f 0 (1500) are (1.27 ± 0.33) · 10 −3 and (0.60 ± 0.17) · 10 −3 , respectively.
