We report measurements of the proton form factors GEp and GMp extracted from elastic scattering in the range 1≤Q2≤3 (GeV/c)2 with total uncertainties < 15% in GEp and < 3% in GMp. Comparisons are made to theoretical models, including those based on perturbative QCD, vector-meson dominance, QCD sum rules, and diquark constituents in the proton. The results for GEp are somewhat larger than indicated by most theoretical parametrizations, and the ratios of the Pauli and Dirac form factors Q2(F2pF1p) are lower in value and demonstrate a weaker Q2 dependence than those predictions. A global extraction of the elastic form factors from several experiments in the range 0.1 0.1<Q2<10 (GeV/c)2 is also presented.

Measurement of two photon production of the chi(c2)

The CLEO collaboration Shelkov, V. ; Dominick, J. ; Sanghera, S. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 50 (1994) 4265-4271, 1994.
Inspire Record 359316 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.52343

The CLEO II detector is used to search for the production of χc2 states in two-photon interactions. We use the signature χc2→γJ/ψ→γl+l− with l=e,μ. Using 1.49 fb−1 of data taken with beam energies near 5.29 GeV, the two-photon width of the χc2 is determined to be Γ(χc2→γγ)=1.08±0.30(stat)±0.26(syst) keV, in agreement with predictions from perturbative QCD.

Measurement of cross-section for gamma gamma ---> p anti-p

The CLEO collaboration Artuso, M. ; He, D. ; Goldberg, M. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 50 (1994) 5484-5490, 1994.
Inspire Record 358510 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.47137

A measurement of the cross section for γγ→pp¯ is performed at two-photon center-of-mass energies between 2.00 and 3.25 GeV. These results are obtained using e+e−→e+e−pp¯ events selected from 1.31 fb−1 of data taken with the CLEO II detector. The measured cross section is in reasonable agreement with previous measurements and is in excellent agreement with recent calculations based on a diquark model. However, leading order QCD calculations performed using the Brodsky-Lepage formalism are well below the measured cross section.

We present a new determination of the nonsinglet structure function ${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{p}}$ - ${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{n}}$ at ${\mathit{Q}}^{2}$=4 ${\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}$ using recently measured values of ${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{d}}$ and ${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{n}}$/${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{p}}$. A new evaluation of the Gottfried sum is given, which remains below the simple quark-parton model value of 1/3.

n p elastic analyzing power A(NO) and spin transfer K(NN)

We have measured the analyzing power ANO and the spin transfer KNN for np-elastic scattering from about 60° to 170° c.m. at 485, 635, and 788 MeV. The new data clarify previous discrepancies and complete the first-order determination of nucleon-nucleon elastic scattering at these energies.

Measurement of the reaction anti-p p ---> K(s) K(s) in the region near s**(1/2) approximately = 2230-MeV

Phys.Lett.B 309 (1993) 469-476, 1993.
Inspire Record 354910 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28909

Measurements of the total and differential cross sections of the reaction p p → K s K s are presented for values of s in the region near 2230 MeV. The 18 energies of the scan were chosen to permit a sensitive search for resonant structure related to the ¢E(2230) state in a channel with a minimal non-resonant background. No such structure is observed. Stringent limits for the branching ratio are set based on various assumptions for the width and spin of the ¢E.

Study of the eta pi- system in the pi- p reaction at 6.3-GeV/c

Phys.Lett.B 314 (1993) 246-254, 1993.
Inspire Record 363785 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28847

Data of the ηπ − system were obtained in the reaction π − p → ηπ − p at 6.3 GeV/ c beam momentum. About 17 k events of ηπ − were collected in the mass range 0.8 ⩽ M ηπ - ⩽ 1.8 GeV/ c 2 and in the range of the momentum transfer squared 0.075 ⩽ | t ′| ⩽ 0.60 (GeV/ c ) 2 . A large forward-backward asymmetry was observed around 1.3 GeV/ c 2 in the Gottfried-Jackson frame of the ηπ − system. A partial wave analysis of the data was performed. A peak of the D + wave attributed to a 2 (1320) is clearly seen. An enhancement is observed around 1.3 GeV/ c 2 in the P + wave.

Total cross-section of the p p ---> p p eta reaction near threshold

Bergdolt, A.M. ; Bergdolt, G. ; Bing, O. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 48 (1993) R2969-R2973, 1993.
Inspire Record 364575 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.22579

The pp→ppη reaction is studied at energies near the η production threshold. The total cross sections at nominal machine energies of 1260, 1265, and 1300 MeV are 90±15, 790±120, and 3460±690 nb, respectively. None of the existing perturbative model calculations reproduces the energy dependence, which deviates strongly from phase space. This suggests that the cross section is enhanced in the near vicinity of the production threshold by a large η−pp scattering length.

Mass identified particle production in proton anti-proton collisions at s**(1/2) = 300-GeV, 540-GeV, 1000-GeV, and 1800-GeV

The yields and average transverse momenta of pions, kaons, and antiprotons produced at the Fermilab p¯p collider at s=300, 540, 1000, and 1800 GeV are presented and compared with data from the energies reached at the CERN collider. We also present data on the dependence of average transverse momentum 〈pt〉 and particle ratios as a function of charged particle density dNcdη; data for particle densities as high as six times the average value, corresponding to a Bjorken energy density 6 GeV/fm3, are reported. These data are relevant to the search for quark-gluon phase of QCD.

Measurements of the electric and magnetic form-factors of the neutron from Q**2 = 1.75-GeV/c**2 to 4-GeV/c**2

Lung, A. ; Stuart, L.M. ; Bosted, Peter E. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 70 (1993) 718-721, 1993.
Inspire Record 342252 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19739

Quasielastic e-d cross sections have been measured at forward and backward angles. Rosenbluth separations were done to obtain RL and RT at Q2=1.75, 2.50, 3.25, and 4.00 (GeV/c)2. The neutron form factors GEn and GMn have been extracted using a nonrelativistic model. The sensitivity to deuteron wave function, relativistic corrections, and models of the inelastic background are reported. The results for GMn are consistent with the dipole form, while GEn is consistent with zero. Comparisons are made to theoretical models based on vector meson dominance, perturbative QCD, and QCD sum rules, as well as constituent quarks.
