Neutron-proton differential cross sections have been measured with good statistics for four-momentum transfers 0.14<−t≲19.0 (GeV/c)2 at laboratory momenta ranging from 4.5 to 12.5 GeV/c. The experiment was carried out in a neutron beam at the Argonne National Laboratory zero-gradient synchrotron. These results in conjunction with previous n−p charge-exchange data provide almost complete elastic-scattering angular distributions in this momentum range.

Phys.Lett.B 68 (1977) 283, 1977.
Inspire Record 119149 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27565

We report on inclusive production of J ψ (3.1)-mesons observed in e + e − -annihilation in the energy range s = 4.0–5.0 GeV . After substraction of the radiative tail of the ψ(3.7) direct production of the J ψ (3.1) is found to be in the order of 0.1% of the total hadronic cross section. No enhancements are seen at s = 4.03 GeV and 4.4 GeV. The level is in agreement with expectations from violation of the Zweig-rule.

Four angular distributions of the differential cross section of the reaction γ + p → π 0 + p have been measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV Synchrotron at pion c.m. angles between 3° and 63° in the photon energy range from 0.9 GeV to 1.2 GeV. The π 0 mesons were detected by their two decay photons. The data are compared with data of other laboratories and predictions of two recent partial-wave analyses.

We have measured the production cross section for K s 0 in e + e − annihilation from 3.6 to 5.0 GeV center of mass energy. A substantial increase of the K s 0 yield is observed around 4 GeV in qualitative agreement with the charm hypothesis.

The Reactions K- p --> Lambda pi0, Lambda eta, Lambda eta' at 4.2-GeV/c

The Amsterdam-CERN-Nijmegen-Oxford collaboration Marzano, F. ; Hemingway, R.J. ; Loverre, P.F. ; et al.

In a high statistics CERN 2 m bubble chamber experiment the differential cross sections and polarizations of the Λ for the reactions K − p → Λπ 0 , Λη , Λη ′ at 4.2 GeV/ c have been measured. The reaction K − p → Λη exhibits a pronounced dip around − t ∼0.5 ( GeV / c ) 2 and all three reactions show a significant backward peaking (− u < 1.0 (GeV/ c ) 2 ). The Λ polarization in the reaction K − p → Λπ 0 is measured to be significantly different from zero throughout most of the available t -range. Forward cross sections enable a determination of R T , the ratio of singlet/octet coupling η 1 KK ∗∗ η 8 KK ∗∗ . Backward cross sections are utilized to estimate the effective η-nucleon coupling constant g η NN 2 over the − u range 0–1.5 ( GeV /c) 2 .

Inclusive phi Production in pi- p Interactions at 16-GeV/c

Phys.Lett.B 68 (1977) 186, 1977.

Inclusive φ production is studied in π − p collisions at 16 GeV/ c . The φ cross section for Feynman variable x φ > 0.2 is found to be (15.5 ± 3.6) μb. This leads to an extrapolated cross section of (29.9 ± 7.0) μb for x φ > 0.0. Fitting the momentum transfer squared distribution of the φ to the form e −bp 2 T gives an average slope of b = (2.4 ± 0.3) (GeV/ c −2 for x φ > 0.5.

Angular distributions of the target symmetry for the reaction γ + p → π 0 + p have been measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV Electron Synchrotron at pion c.m. angles between 13° and 63° and photon energies of 1.0 and 1.1 GeV. The π 0 mesons were detected by their two decay photons with total absorption lead-glass Čerenkov counters. Butanol was used as target material in a continuous flow 3 He cryostat operating at 0.5 K and 25 kG. The π 0 counting rate from free protons in the butanol target was derived from the measurements of the differential cross section on hydrogen. The data are compared with data of other laboratories and the results of two recent partial-wave analyses.

Proton Proton Elastic Scattering at 6-GeV/c with Three Spins Measured

Ratner, L.G. ; Borghini, M. ; de Boer, W. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 15 (1977) 604-608, 1977.
Inspire Record 124115 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24627

The differential elastic p−p scattering cross section was measured at 6 GeV/c at the Argonne Zero Gradient Synchrotron in the range p⊥2 = 0.6−1.0 (GeV/c)2 using a 65%-polarized target and a 75%-polarized extracted beam of intensity 3 × 109 protons/pulse. We simultaneously measured the polarization of the recoil proton with a well-calibrated carbon-target polarimeter. All three polarizations were measured perpendicular to the horizontal scattering plane. Our results indicate that P and T invariance are both obeyed to good precision even at large p⊥2. Parity invariance implies that the eight single-flip transversity cross sections are zero, so our data give the relative magnitudes of the eight remaining pure spin cross sections where all spins are measured. We find that the double-flip transversity cross sections are nonzero.
