We report on an experiment where the different contributions from the transverse and longitudinal polarization of the virtual photon are measured separately for the reaction e − p→e − π + n. The data taken above the resonance region at small ∣ t ∣ values in the q 2 range of ∣ q 2 ∣ < 0.5 GeV 2 show a clear dominance of the longitudinal part of the cross section and are well described by a generalized Born-term model. Using this model the electromagnetic form factor of the pion is determined. At q 2 = −0.35 GeV 2 one gets F π = 0.598 ± 0.021.

Inspire Record 121537 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20983

We have studied the coherent dissociation of neutrons into pπ− systems, for a variety of nuclear targets, at incident momenta up to 300 GeV/c. Using a model incorporating both electromagnetic and hadronic production, we have extracted total cross sections for scattering of unstable pπ− systems on nucleons.

Phys.Lett.B 71 (1977) 222, 1977.
Inspire Record 120776 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27510

We report on the analysis of inclusive neutral current events produced in neutrino and antineutrino narrow band beams. We find for incident neutrino energies in the range 12–200 GeV and for hadron energies above 12 GeV a neutral to charged current cross-section ratio of R v = 0.293 ± 0.010 for incident neutrinos, and R v = 0.35 ± 0.03 for antineutrinos. These ratios are consistent with the Weinberg-Salam model, with sin 2 θ w = 0.24 ± 0.02.

Total Cross-Sections for Charged Current Neutrino and anti-neutrino Interactions in BEBC in the Energy Range 20-GeV to 200-GeV

Inspire Record 121301 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27526

The charged-current cross sections for neutrinos and antineutrinos on nucleons in the energy range 20–200 GeV are given. Taken in conjunction with the previous Gargamelle results, they show that σ E is almost constant with energy for antineutrinos, and falls with energy for neutrinos. The value of 〈q 2 〉 E decreases with energy for both neutrinos and antineutrinos, and these deviations from exact Bjorken scaling are consistent with those observed in electron and muon inelastic scattering. We find no evidence for new heavy quark states with right-handed coupling.

We report measurements of the polarization parameters in π+p and π−p elastic scattering at an incident momentum of 100 GeV/c. The results cover the range 0.18<~−t<~1.4 GeV2 and are in agreement with current Regge-model predictions.

201 GeV/c Proton Proton Elastic Scattering at Large Momentum Transfer

Hartmann, J.L. ; Orear, J. ; Vrieslander, J. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 39 (1977) 975, 1977.
Inspire Record 120624 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20930

Proton-proton elastic scattering has been measured in the region 4.9<|t|<12.1 GeV2 at a beam momentum of 201 GeV/c. If the form exp(At) is fitted to the data, the exponent A gradually changes from 1.5 to 0.9 GeV−2 over our t range. The data are consistent with the form exp(−6.6p⊥). A comparison with intersecting storage ring results shows that in this kinematical region the slopes are about the same, but dσdt at fixed t is still dropping with energy.

Comparison of the Line Reversed Channels anti-p p --> pi- pi+ and pi+ p --> p pi+ at 6-GeV/c

Inspire Record 124936 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20964

Differential cross sections have been measured for p¯p→π−π+ (1) and its line-reversed partner π+p→pπ+ (2) in the range tmin>t>−1.5 (GeV/c)2 at 6 GeV/c. Clear structure is seen in the differential cross section for Reaction (1) at t∼−0.4 (GeV/c)2. However, this feature is quite different from the striking dip seen in (2) at t∼−0.15 (GeV/c)2, indicating a failure of line reversal and disagreement with simple Regge models.

Search for D0 (1865) Mesons Produced in Association with Prompt Muons in Hadronic Interactions

Phys.Rev.Lett. 40 (1978) 605, 1978.
Inspire Record 121095 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.42612

We present the results of a search at Fermilab for the charmed meson, D∘(1865), produced in association with a prompt muon by 300-GeV/c neutrons. We observe no significant enhancement in high-mass K±π∓ systems and report, at the 95% confidence level, an upper limit of 200 nb/nucleon for the production of a pair of charmed particles and their subsequent decay into a K±π∓ state and a prompt muon.

Phys.Rev.Lett. 40 (1978) 608, 1978.

We present the results of a search for leptons produced in coincidence with a prompt muon in neutron-beryllium collisions at 300 GeV/c. The experiment was sensitive to trigger muons and associated leptons of both low momentum and low transverse momentum. A clear μ±μ∓ signal was found, but no significant μ±e∓ signal was observed. We report an upper limit for associated charmed-particle production [σCC¯·B(C→μ+X)·B(C→e+X)] of < 340 nb/nucleon, at the 95% confidence level.
