The transmission regeneration amplitude after a thick copper block has been measured. The quantity {∣ƒ(0)- overlineƒ(0)∣ }/{k} varies from 20.0 $\pm$ 1.4 mb at 2.75 GeV/c to 13.6 $\pm$ 1.2 mb at 7.25 GeV/c. Results are in agreement with optical model calculations in which real and imaginary parts of the amplitudes for single nucleon scattering are determined from forward dispersion relations and total cross-sections.
Regeneration amplitude.
Differential cross sections and polarizations have been measured for the reaction π − p → K 0 Λ and π − p → K 0 Σ 0 at 3.9 GeV/ c π − momentum. Comparison of these data with those of the related reactions K − n → π − Λ and K − p → π − Σ + (at approximately the same c.m. energy) indicate that simple Regge-pole models involving only K ∗ (890) and K ∗ (1420) exchange are unable to describe all the features of the data. On the other hand, comparison of the π − p → K 0 Σ 0 data with that of π + p → K + Σ + shows that the data are consistent with absence of exotic strange-meson exchange.

We present an analysis of the K ππ system produced in 10 GeV/ c K + p interactions. We show that the low-mass enchancement between 1.2 and 1.4 GeV/ c 2 on the K ππ mass spectrum is predominantly 1 + throughout, give the relative amplitudes for the decay of this system into K ∗ (890) π and K ρ , and offer new evidence for the presence of two 1 + resonances in this mass region.

We report on coherent interactions in a 2.5 event/μb K − d exposure. The predominant channel studied is K − d → K − π + gp − d (415 events). We find strong Q- and L-production in the (K ππ ) system. The production mechanism determines I = 1 2 for both enhancements and a spin-parity in the series 0 − , 1 + ,2 − … . A spin-parity analysis shows the Q to be a 1 + object, while the L is 1 + or 2 − , although a higher spin cannot be excluded. The cross sections for Q and L production and other final states are presented.

We present the results of a study of 1173 uniquely identified events of the K 0 π + p final state produced in 10 GeV/ c K + p interactions. This final state is dominated by the quasi two-body processes K + p → K 0 N ∗+ (890 p and K + p → K ∗+ (1420) p . The background is very low and there is little overlapping of resonance bands. We present cross sections, t -distributions and decay angular distributions for the contributing reaction channels. Dips are observed near t = 0 in the differential cross sections for all three processes.

We have studied the proper time distribution of coherent π + π − decays from a 3 – 10 GeV/ c K L o beam incident on a one meter liquid hydrogen target using a wire spark chamber spectrometer in the 3 0 neutral beam at SLAC. We find ∣(ƒ(0) − ƒ (0))/k∣ = 0.43 ± 0.11 mb , φ(ƒ(0) − ƒ (0)) = -101 0 ± 42 0 .

We present complete results concerning the five reactions K − p → Λω , K − p → Λφ , K − p → Σ 0 ϱ and K − p → Σ 0 φ . The experimental data are well described by exchange mechanisms and the agreement with the SU(3) symmetry predictions is excellent.

Final states π − Σ + , π + Σ − , π o Λ and ηΛ were studied for K − p reactions at 3.95 GeV/ c . Cross sections, angular distributions and polarizations are presented. Data for π − Σ + and π o Λ production are compared to the line-reversed πp reactions at the same beam momentum. Baryon-exchange peaks are presented for the Σ + π − , Σ − π + and Λπ o final states.
