Antiproton-proton elastic scattering has been measured at 5 GeV/c. A total of 30 000 events were observed in the angular range 17° < θ cm < 136°, corresponding to 0.3 < − t < 7.7 (GeV/ c 2 ). In addition to the known dip at − t = 0.5 ( GeV / c ) 2 , we observe a structure at about − t = 2 (GeV/ c ) 2 and a backward peak with a slope4.1 ± 0.6 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The extrapolated differential cross-section at u = 0 is 1.3 ± 0.8 μ b/(GeV/ c ) 2 .

Elastic scattering of p¯ on p has been studied for cosθc.m. between -0.88 and -1.0 and Plab(p¯) between 0.70 and 2.16 GeV/c. The momentum dependence of the cross section shows a sharp dip at 0.9 GeV/c and a broad peaking around 1.4 GeV/c. The possibility of the peak resulting from direct formation of boson resonances has been studied. Alternatively, a diffraction model agrees qualitatively with our data and other elastic data at different angles.

Absolute inclusive cross sections for\(\bar pp\) interactions at 7.3 GeV/c are given. The data cover prong cross sections,V0, γ production and inclusive charged particle (p/π) production. Separation has been made into annihilation and non-annihilation components. Measurements have been made of the differential cross section for p p elastic scattering over a c.m. angular range −0.95 ⩽ cos θ ∗ ⩽ 0.93 at 21 incident antiproton momenta between 0.69 GeV/ c and 2.43 GeV/ c (c.m. energy 1.96–2.58 GeV). About 10 5 events were obtained at each momentum. The results are discussed primarily in terms of the formation of s -channel resonances in the T and U mass regions, and within the context of the optical model of Frahn and Venter.

Differential cross section and polarization distributions are presented for elastic p p scattering at incident momenta of 1.73, 2.13, 2.37 and 2.97 GeV/ c . The data have been analysed in terms of a 5-parameter diffraction model. In terms of this model the difference in the shape of the differential cross sections for p p and pp elastic scattering is a result of the strong absorption in the p p system.

We present results of measurements of K ± p and p p elastic scattering and of the annihilation reactions p p →π + π − and p p → K + K − at an incident laboratory momentum of 5 GeV/ c . Nearly complete angular distributions were obtained. Results are also presented for π -meson proton elastic scattering in the momentum transfer ranges 2 < − t < 8 (GeV/ c ) 2 (for π + ) and 0.16 < − t < 7 (GeV/ c ) 2 (for π − ). All measurements were done in one experimental geometry. The measured differential cross sections range from 10 to 10 −5 mb/(GeV/ c ) 2 .

The general features of p p interactions at 32 GeV/ c are analysed in a bubble chamber experiment with a statistics of 5.2 μb/event. The inclusive production of neutral strange particles and pions is analysed and compared to results obtained at other energies and in pp interactions. Total cross sections are determined for various 4C reactions and the relative contributions of diffractive dissociation and Δ Δ production to the reaction p p → p p π + π − are estimated.
