Photoproduction of pi0 Mesons from Hydrogen near Zero Degrees

We report measurements of the differential cross section for photoproduction of π0 mesons from hydrogen, with the pion emerging near 0 deg, in the photon energy range 290 to 700 MeV. The results show no unusual behavior of the cross section in the forward direction. They are consistent with the angular distribution characteristic of a magnetic-dipole transition to a P32 state. The results agree reasonably well with theoretical predictions of Gourdin and Salin, but disagree with a prediction of DeTollis and Verganelakis. Least-squares fits in powers of cosθ have been made to the available angular distributions.

The slope parameter of the differential cross-section of elastic p-p scattering in energy range 12-70 gev

The measurements of the differential cross section of elastic p-p scattering in relative units were performed in the energy range of 12–70 GeV. The values of the slope parameter were obtained from this data. It was shown that the slope parameter of the differential p-p scattering is monotonously increasing when the proton energy rises in the range 12–70 GeV. We have obtained the slope Pomeranchuk's pole trajectory from this data: α′ p = 0.40 ± 0.09.

Transmission regeneration of neutral k-mesons on hydrogen in the momentum region of 14-42 gev/c

The measurements of the transmission regeneration amplitude on hydrogen in the momentum region of 14–42 GeV/ c indicate that in accordance with the Pomeranchuk theorem its magnitude |ƒ° − ƒ °|/k decreases as energy increases and its phase is approximately constant and equal to arg (ƒ° − ƒ °) = (−118 ± 13)° .

The π − p differential elastic scattering cross sections have been measured for eight momenta in the 33–55 GeV/ c range. The energy dependence of the slope and of the total elastic scattering cross sections has been determined experimentally. The results are compared with the known data. The experimental data are compared both with the Regge pole model and with the quasi-potential one.

Small-Angle pi- p Elastic Scattering Measurements

We have measured small angle elastic pion-proton scattering in 40 and 50 GeV c π − beams at Serpukhov. Analysis of the data in the Coulomb interference region yields a value for the ratio of the real to the imaginary part of the strong amplitude, ϱ (0)=−0.074 ± 0.033 at 40 GeV/ c and ϱ (0)=−0.006 ±0.026 at 50 GeV/ c
