Photoproduction of k+ lambda and k+ sigma0 from hydrogen between 1.3 and 1.45 gev

The differential cross section has been measured for the reaction γ+p→K+ + Λ atk=1.3 GeV andCM angles between 6 ° and 90 ° and for the reaction γ+p→K+ + ∑0 atk=1.45 GeV andCM angles between 10 ° and 85 °. In addition 10 differential cross sections of the two reactions in the energy region betweenk=1.327 and 1.416 GeV and angles between θcm=11.2 ° and 62 ° have been obtained. The results are compared with Regge-cut-model fits by Meyer zu Hörste and Pfeil1 taking into account all availableK+ photoproduction data.

Polarization in elastic k-plus p scattering between 0.86 gev/c and 1.45 gev/c - results and phase-shift analysis

Polarization and differential cross-section data at 0.86, 0.97, 1.09, 1.37 and 1.45 GeV c are presented. An energy-independent phase-shift analysis from threshold up to 1.45 GeV c using random searches at 19 momenta and the shortest path method to link solutions at different momenta, yields three solutions. One of these is unlikely; the other two coincide up to 0.86 GeV c , and both show an anticlockwise half-circle in the P 3 -wave.

The angular distributions of K + p and π + p backward elastic scattering have been measured at 5.2 and 6.9 GeV/ c . Backward π - p and K - p elastic scattering were studied at 6.9 GeV/ c . Backward peaks are observed in K + p scattering with an energy dependence of the form s −4 .

Elastic scattering of positive kaons on polarized protons at 1.22 and 2.48 gev/c

Polarization angular distributions of K + p elastic scattering have been measured at 1.22 and 2.48 GeV/ c . Over the measured range of − t the polarization is generally large and positive. The data at 1.22 GeV/ c resolve an ambiguity in a recently published phase-shift analysis, favouring the solution which requires no resonance in the K + p system.

Photoproduction cross sections for $\pi^+$ and $K^+$ mesons at 3.4 to 4.0 {GeV} and their comparison with {SU(3)}

The differential cross sections for the photoproduction reactions γ+p→π++n, γ+p→K++Λ0, and γ+p→K++Σ0 have ben measured for incident laboratory photon energies between 3.4 and 4.0 GeV and for meson center-of-mass angles from about 25° to 45°. The reactions were studied by observing only the charged mesons. The momenta, velocities, and angles of the mesons were measured with a magnetic spectrometer, and the equivalent of nearly monochromatic gamma rays was obtained by performing bremsstrahlung subtractions. The cross sections agree with the inequality predicted from unbroken SU(3). The measured behavior of dσdt as a function of t shows similarities to that observed in studies of mesonnucleon scattering.
