Levi, M.E. ; Blocker, C.A. ; Strait, J. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 51 (1983) 1941, 1983.
Inspire Record 191845 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3281

The differential cross sections for lepton pair production in e+e− annihilation at 29 GeV have been measured and found to be in good agreement with the standard model of the electroweak interaction. With the assumption of e−μ−τ universality, the weak neutral-current couplings are determined to be ga2=0.23±0.05 and gv2=0.03±0.04.

Nuclear Enhancement of pi0 and eta mesons Produced at Large Transverse Momenta

Povlis, J. ; Biel, J. ; Bromberg, C. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 51 (1983) 967, 1983.
Inspire Record 191764 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20477

The authors have measured the large-pT inclusive cross sections for π0 and η production near 90° in the center-of-mass system in 200-GeV/c π+ and proton collisions with beryllium, carbon, and aluminum targets. The cross section for both π0 and η mesons rises with increasing nucleon number (A) of the target nucleus as Aα, with α>1. The ratio of the π0 yield in pA collisions to that in π+A collisions decreases with increasing pT.

Inclusive Production of Direct Photons in 200-{GeV}/$c$ Collisions

McLaughlin, M. ; Biel, J. ; Bromberg, C. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 51 (1983) 971, 1983.
Inspire Record 191763 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20473

The authors have measured the inclusive production of direct photons in the transverse momentum (pT) range 2.1-5.0 GeV/c in 200-GeV/c collisions of protons and π+ mesons on a carbon target. A significant yield of direct photons was observed for pT>2.5 GeV/c. The invariant cross section for direct-photon production, when compared with measurements from the CERN intersecting storage rings, can be expressed in terms of pT and xT=2pTs as (42±14)(1−xT)8.1±1.0pT−6.6±0.3 μb/GeV2 for the c.m. energy range from s=19.4 to 63 GeV, and for the xT range from 0.2 to 0.5.

Inclusive Photoproduction of Neutral Strange Particles at 20-{GeV}

The SLAC Hybrid Facility Photon collaboration Abe, K. ; Bacon, T.C. ; Ballam, Joseph ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 29 (1984) 1877, 1984.
Inspire Record 190724 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23774

We have studied inclusive production of KS0, Λ, and Λ¯ particles in 20-GeV γp interactions and have found features similar to those observed in both hadronic and leptonic interactions. The production cross sections, charged-particle multiplicities, and average Λ polarization are reported. Inclusive distributions of x and pT are shown and discussed in terms of quark fragmentation models. Production cross sections for K*(890) and Σ*(1385) are also reported.

Measurement of Production and Properties of Jets at the CERN anti-p p Collider

The UA2 collaboration Bagnaia, P. ; Banner, M. ; Battiston, R. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 20 (1983) 117-134, 1983.
Inspire Record 191166 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.16305

The production and properties of high transverse momentum hadron jets have been measured in the UA2 experiment at the CERN\(\bar pp\) Collider\((\sqrt s= 540 GEV)\) using a highly segmented total absorption calorimeter. The characteristics of a sample of two-jet events with invariant mass up to 200 GeV/c2 are discussed, including measurements of their fragmentation properties, angular and rapidity distributions, and the properties of the additional energy clusters accompanying the two-jet system. Cross sections for inclusive jet production in the jet transverse momentum range between 30 and 100 GeV/c and for the two-jet invariant mass distribution in the mass range from 60–200 GeV/c2 are reported.

Observation of Inclusive $\eta$ Production in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation at {CM} Energies of 34-{GeV}

The JADE collaboration Bartel, W. ; Becker, L. ; Bowdery, C. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 130 (1983) 454-458, 1983.
Inspire Record 191416 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30634

The inclusive production of η mesons at CM energies around 34 GeV has been studied for e + e − annihilation into hadrons. The average number of η-mesons per event is found to be 0.72 ± 0.10 (stat.) ± 0.18 (syst.). The abundance of η's is studied as a function of event shape parameters and it is compared to the corresponding π 0 rates.

Phys.Lett.B 132 (1983) 458-462, 1983.
Inspire Record 191414 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30631

Measurements are presented of inclusive distributions in pp and p p interactions at √ s = 53 GeV. The data were obtained at the CERN ISR using the Split Field Magnet spectrometer with a minimum bias trigger. The inclusive distributions are analyzed as functions of the transverse momentum, the rapidity and the Feynman- x variable.

Measurement of the Neutral Current Coupling Constants in Neutrino and Anti-neutrinos Interactions With Deuterium

The Amsterdam-Bergen-Bologna-Padua-Pisa-Saclay-Turin collaboration Allasia, D. ; Angelini, C. ; Baldini, A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 133 (1983) 129, 1983.
Inspire Record 191539 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30635

We have measured neutral and charged current interactions of ν μ and ν μ on proton and neutron. From a combination of ratios we determine the neutral current chiral coupling constants. The results are u 2 L = 0.13 ± 0.03, d 2 L = 0.19 ± 0.03, u 2 R = 0.02 ± 0.02 and d 2 R = 0.00 ± 0.02. These results agree with the predictions of the standard SU(2) × U(1) model. The corresponding value of sin 2 θ W is 0.20 ± 0.04.

A Comparison of Charged Current Cross-sections and Structure Functions for Neutrino and Anti-neutrinos Beams on Hydrogen and Neon

The BEBC TST Neutrino collaboration Parker, M.A. ; Francois, T. ; Guy, J.G. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 232 (1984) 1-20, 1984.
Inspire Record 192873 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33899

Using BEBC equipped with a hydrogen-filled neon-surrounded track-sensitive target, the charged current cross sections and structure functions of hydrogen and neon targets traversed by the same neutrinos and antineutrinos are compared directly. The measured total cross-section ratios between hydrogen and neon allow precise total cross-section values for hydrogen to be inferred. Using this normalization, the ν and ν hydrogen data are combined and the quark distributions in free nucleons, parametrised as functions of ξ, are extracted. This free-nucleon parametrisation is then compared directly with the neon data in order to measure nuclear effects such as those recently reported by the EMC collaboration. Only small effects are seen, in excellent agreement with recent SLAC data in a more similar A and q 2 range.

Differential Cross-sections for $\gamma \gamma \to p \bar{p}$ in the Center-of-mass Energy Range From 2.0-{GeV} to 3.1-{GeV}

The TASSO collaboration Althoff, M. ; Braunschweig, W. ; Gather, K. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 130 (1983) 449-453, 1983.
Inspire Record 191417 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.6654

Exclusive production of proton-antiproton pairs by two photon scattering at CM energies between 2.0 GeV and 3.1 GeV has been measured with the TASSO detector at the e + e − storage ring PETRA. The angular distribution is flat within the accepted CM angular range | cos Θ ∗ |⩽0.7 . The integrated cross section (| cos Θ ∗ |⩽0.6) drops from about 4 nb at 2 GeV to less than 0.5 nb above 3 GeV. For the two-photon production of the η c (2984) and its subsequent decay into proton-antiproton the upper limit Γ(η c →γγ)· B (η c → p p )<0.32 keV (95% CL) is found.
