This work extends our previous investigations at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings, with improved statistics at three different energies, wider angular range and a better control over systematic errors. Values for the (diffraction) shape parameter b are given.

The K L K S transmission regeneration of a K L beam traversing a liquid hydrogen target has been observed over the momentum interval 3.0–6.0 GeV/ c . Results are in good agreement with predictions based on dispersion relations.

Cross sections for π − p→n π o at 5.9, 10.1 and 13.8 GeV/ c incident momentum are presented in the angular region from 180 o to u , the crossed four-momentum transfer squared, of −2(GeV) 2 and the energy dependence is discussed. The cross section for π − p→n η o integrated over the same angular region at 5.9 GeV/ c is also presented.

K- p elastic and charge-exchange scattering in the center-of-mass energy range 1915-2168 mev

Total and differential cross sections are presented for the reactions K − p → K − p and K − p → K o n at 13 points in the c.m. energy range 1915–2168 MeV. An energy-dependent partial-wave analysis is carried out on these data together with the polarisation measurements of Daum et al. [1] and the total cross section measurements [2] within this energy range. The well known Σ(1915), Σ(2030) and Λ(2100) are observed and their resonance parameters measured. Structure is also found in the D 05 and F 07 waves. An SU(3) analysis of the 5 2 + octet, 7 2 + decuplet and 7 2 − singlet gives generally good agreement between theory and experiment except that the elasticity of the Σ(1915) is experimentally rather larger than predicted.

Decay distributions in the reaction k+ p ---> k*0(1420) delta++ at 5 gev/c and quark model predictions

Eskreys, A. ; Malecki, P. ; Zalewski, K. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 29 (1971) 587-600, 1971.
Inspire Record 68631 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33559

Joint decay distributions have been studied in the reaction K + p → K ∗o (1420)Δ ++ at 5.0 GeV/ c in the transversity spin reference frame. Two alternative spin-parity assignments 2 + and 3 − for the K ∗ resonance have been considered and a comparison with the quark-model predictions has been made. The predictions of the quark model are equally well satisfied by the experimental results for both the 2 + and 3 − spin-parity assignments.

From a bubble chamber exposure in an antiproton beam at 5.7 GeV/ c yielding 13 events/μb, the final states p ̄ p → Y 1 ∗+ (1385)Λ, Y 1 ∗+ (1385)Σ + , Y 1 ∗+ (1385) Y 1 ∗+ (1385) have been isolated. We have measured the total cross section, d σ /d t , and the complete density matrix of the Y ∗ for these processes. Upper limits have been set to the forbidden reactions p ̄ p → Y 1 ∗− (1385)Σ − , Y 1 ∗− (1385) Y 1 ∗− (1385) .

The absolute luminosity of the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings has been determined by the Van der Meer method. Combining the measurement with small angle proton-proton elastic events, we find σ elastic = (6.8±0.6)mb.

Observation of small angle proton proton elastic scattering at 30 gev and 45 gev center-of-mass energies

Phys.Lett.B 35 (1971) 355-360, 1971.

Small angle elastic scattering events have been observed at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. Directions of both particles as well as the collision vertex are reconstructed with the help of four sets of spark chambers, two for each of the two arms. The elastic nature of the events is demonstrated by a collinearity requirement. We find values for the (diffraction) slope parameter in disagreement with the simple linear extrapolation of lower energy (Surpukov) data.
