Energy spectra of protons, deuterons and tritons from stopped-antiproton annihilation in Li, Si, Ca, Ni, Ge, Mo, Ho, Yb, Pb and Th have been measured with a Ge detector telescope. The shapes of these and of previously obtained spectra and the corresponding yields were analysed and compared with statistical calculations including intranuclear cascade, coalescence, pre-equilibrium processes, evaporation, multifragmentation and Fermi break-up. The relative importance and the A -dependence of the various processes are elucidated.

Multiplicity dependence of strangeness production in S + Pb collisions at 200-GeV/c per nucleon

The NA36 collaboration Andersen, E ; Blaes, R ; Brom, J.M ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 316 (1993) 603-607, 1993.
Inspire Record 364810 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28817

Production of Λ, Λ , and K s 0 has been measured for a wide range of event multiplicity in S+Pb reactions at 200 GeV/c per nucleon. The production of Λ is shown to increase with multiplicity faster than expected from a superposition of p+p collisions. The effect is seen for low multiplicity (below 100 negative particles).

Anti-proton He-4 interactions at 200-MeV/c

Balestra, F. ; Batusov, Yu.A. ; Bendiscioli, G. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 305 (1993) 18-22, 1993.
Inspire Record 362745 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28940

The differential cross sections for antiproton elastic scattering on 4 He at 192.8 MeV/ c are measured. The annihilation cross section σ a = (377.6 ± 8.0) mb, the elastic cross section σ el = (206.3 ± 6.6) mb and the total p 4 He interaction cross section σ tot = (583.9 ± 10.4) mb are determined. The ratio of the real to imaginary part of the forward p 4 He amplitude is found: π =−0.17± 0.33 0.24 . Partial wave analysis reveals that the S, P and D waves are essential in this energy region.

Charmed pair correlations in pi- Cu interactions at 230-GeV/c.

Phys.Lett.B 302 (1993) 112-118, 1993.
Inspire Record 362064 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28956

In the CERN NA32 experiment a high-resolution silicon vertex detector and a purely topological approach were used to collect 557 events consistent with associated charm production, both decay vertices being observed. The pseudorapidity gap distribution appears to be nearly independent of the nature of the charmed hadrons. This distribution is reasonably consistent with the next-to-leading order QCD calculations. However the azimuthal-angle distribution is significantly broader than the above predictions.

First measurement of the depolarization parameter D(onon) of the anti-p p ---> anti-n n charge exchange reaction

Birsa, R. ; Bradamante, F. ; Bressan, A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 302 (1993) 517-522, 1993.
Inspire Record 354498 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28944

The depolarization parameter D 0 n 0 n in the charge-exchange reaction p p ↑→ n n ↑ has been measured for the first time at the CERN Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) at 875 MeV/ c antiproton beam momentum, in the forward hemisphere. The measured values of D 0 n 0 n are always smaller than ±0.3, indicating that the two-spin amplitudes dominate the scattering matrix as suggested by the meson exchange potential models.

4He-p collisions at two values of4He momenta 8.6 GeV/c and 13.6 GeV/c as well as the3He-p collisions at 13.5 GeV/c have been studies using the one-meter JINR hydrogen bubble chamber. Total, elastic, topological and reaction cross sections have been measured. The cross sections have been determined on a sample of minimum biased events.

Diffractive production of rho mesons and of rho pi systems by neutrinos and anti-neutrinos on protons

The WA21 collaboration Jones, G.T. ; Jones, R.W.L. ; Kennedy, B.W. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 58 (1993) 375-386, 1993.
Inspire Record 363176 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.14426

Evidence is presented for diffractive production of ρ-mesons and of ρπ-systems invp and\(\bar \nu p\) chargedcurrent interactions. In the (anti-)neutrino energy range 10 GeV<Ev<60 GeV the cross sections for diffractive ρ and diffractive ρπ production are found to be (0.64±0.14 (stat.)±0.08 (syst.))% and (0.28±0.08 (stat.)±0.04 (syst.))% of the charged-current cross section. The diffractive ρπ signal is consistent with being entirely due to diffractivea1 production. However, the data cannot distinguish between diffractivea1 and diffractive nonresonant ρπ production. The experimental distributions ofW, Q2,xBj andyBj for diffractive ρ and ρπ events are consistent with model predictions.

Precision measurements of the neutral current from hadron and lepton production at LEP

The OPAL collaboration Acton, P.D. ; Alexander, G. ; Allison, John ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 58 (1993) 219-238, 1993.
Inspire Record 352696 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.14495

New measurements of the hadronic and leptonic cross sections and of the leptonic forward-backward asymmetries ine+e− collisions are presented. The analysis includes data recorded up to the end of 1991 by the OPAL experiment at LEP, with centre-of-mass energies within ±3 GeV of the Z0 mass. The results are based on a recorded total of 454 000 hadronic and 58 000 leptonic events. A model independent analysis of Z0 parameters based on an extension of the improved Born approximation is presented leading to test of lepton universality and an interpretation of the results within the Standard Model framework. The determination of the mass and width of the Z0 benefit from an improved understanding of the LEP energy calibration.

Measurement of differential cross-sections for muon-neutrino electron scattering

The CHARM-II collaboration Vilain, P. ; Wilquet, G. ; Beyer, R. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 302 (1993) 351-355, 1993.
Inspire Record 354904 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.16131

We report on a study of the differential cross section d σ /d y for the processes of elastic ν μ - and ν μ - electron scattering. The data on which this analysis is based were recorded between 1987 and 1990 with the CHARM II detector in the wide band neutrino beam at the CERN-SPS. For the first time the shapes of these y -distributions have been determined in a model-independent way. A fit to the data yields for the squares of the neutral coupling constants the ratio g R 2 / g L 2 =0.60 ± 0.19 (stat.) ± 0.09 (syst.).

First measurement of the left-right cross-section asymmetry in Z boson production by e+ e- collisions

The SLD collaboration Abe, K. ; Abt, I. ; Acton, P.D. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 70 (1993) 2515-2520, 1993.
Inspire Record 352667 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19765

We present the first measurement of the left-right cross section asymmetry (ALR) for Z boson production by e+e− collisions. The measurement was performed at a center-of-mass energy of 91.55 GeV with the SLD detector at the SLAC Linear Collider which utilized a longitudinally polarized electron beam. The average beam polarization was (22.4±0.6)%. Using a sample of 10 224 Z decays, we measure ALR to be 0.100±0.044(stat)±0.004(syst), which determines the effective weak mixing angle to be sin2θWeff=0.2378 ±0.0056(stat)±0.0005(syst).
