Experiment E735 searched for evidence of the transition to quark-gluon plasma in p p collisions at √ s = 1.8 TeV. Using data from a high statistics run in 1988–1989, results are presented on multiplicity distributions, hyperon and phi production, and Bose-Einstein correlations. Some data were also taken at lower collision energies and results will be compared to previous experiments.

The yields and average transverse momenta of pions, kaons, and antiprotons produced at the Fermilab p¯p collider at s=300, 540, 1000, and 1800 GeV are presented and compared with data from the energies reached at the CERN collider. We also present data on the dependence of average transverse momentum 〈pt〉 and particle ratios as a function of charged particle density dNcdη; data for particle densities as high as six times the average value, corresponding to a Bjorken energy density 6 GeV/fm3, are reported. These data are relevant to the search for quark-gluon phase of QCD.

Fermilab experiment E735 located at the CO intersection region of the\(\sqrt s= 1.8\) TeV\(p\bar p\) collider analysed over 900 Φ→K+K− events. Measured were the transverse momentum spectrum, the correlation between the average transverse momentum <pt> and the charged particle multiphcityNc, as well as the probability of Φ production per charged track,NΦ/Nc, versusNc. We have also made an estinate of the total inclusive cross section for Φ mesons,\(\sigma (p\bar p \to \phi X) = 7.3 \pm 2.2 mb\).
Corrected phi meson transverse momentum distribution at rapidity = 0.

Ratio of phi to rho0 production in high and low charged particle multiplicity events.
We report on the analysis of Charmonium and Bottomium states produced in p-Si interactions at s =38.7 GeV . The data have been collected with the open geometry spectrometer of the E771 Experiment at the FNAL High Intensity Lab. J ψ , ψ′ and γ total cross sections as well as the ratio B(ψ′ → μμ)σ(ψ′) (B( J ψ → μμ)σ( J ψ )) have been measured. Results are compared with theoretical predictions and with results at other energies.
The total inclusive cross section per nucleon has been evaluated assuming an atomic weight dependence of A**POWER with POWER = 0.920 +- 0.008.

We present the xF and pT differential cross sections of J/ψ and ψ′, respectively, in the ranges −0.05<xF<0.25 and pT<3.5 GeV/c. The data samples are constituted by about 12 000 J/ψ and 200 ψ′ produced in proton-silicon interactions at 800 GeV/c and decaying into opposite sign muons. The xF and pT distributions are compared with recent results from experiments E789 at the same energy and to leading order QCD predictions using the MRS D0 parametrization for the parton structure function. The measured shapes of the differential cross sections, except for the dσ/dxF at small xF, agree very well with the prediction, even though their value is quite a bit larger than the prediction. We also present the cosθ differential cross section of the J/ψ which indicates unpolarized production in contrast with color octet models predictions.

The cross section for bb¯ production in 800GeV/c pN interactions has been measured in Fermilab experiment E771 to be 43−17+27(stat)−7+7(syst)nb per nucleon from the observation of events in which both the b and the b¯ decay semimuonically or a B decays into a J/ψ followed by J/ψ→μ+μ−.

We have examined charged multiplicities arising from p − p and p− p ̄ collisions over the range of center of mass energies, s , from 30 GeV to 1800 GeV. Results from Tevatron experiment E735 support the presence of double parton interactions. These processes can be seen to account for a large fraction of the increase in the non single diffraction inelastic cross section from energies of about 200 GeV to 1800 GeV.

Multiplicity distributions at centre-of-mass energy 300, 546 and 1000 GeV.
The cross sections for the hadroproduction of the Chi1 and Chi2 states of charmonium in proton-silicon collisions at sqrt{s}=38.8 GeV have been measured in Fermilab fixed target Experiment 771. The Chi states were observed via their radiative decay to J/psi+gamma, where the photon converted to e+e- in the material of the spectrometer. The measured values for the Chi1 and Chi2 cross sections for x_F>0 are 263+-69(stat)+-32(syst) and 498+-143(stat)+-67(syst) nb per nucleon respectively. The resulting sigma(Chi1}/sigma(Chi2) ratio of 0.53+-0.20(stat)+-0.07(syst), although somewhat larger than most theoretical expectations, can be accomodated by the latest theoretical estimates.

We present the results of a search for the production of light elements in p¯p collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Momentum, time of flight, and dE/dx measurements are used to distinguish nuclei from elementary particles. A production ratio for deuterium to hydrogen is calculated and compared to the primordial value of the big bang model. Some evidence for tritium is found and none for helium isotopes.
Invariant cross section and cross section per unit rapidity interval for deuterium and anti-deuterium production.
Independent measurement of the proton or anti-proton production cross section (K Gulbrandsen, Senior Thesis, University of Wisconsin-Madison 1998).
Measured cross sections for tritium production.
We present the first measurement of the form factor ratios g1/f1 (direct axial-vector to vector), g2/f1 (second class current) and f2/f1 (weak magnetism) for the decay Xi0 -> Sigma+ e- anti-nu/e using the KTeV (E799) beam line and detector at Fermilab. From the Sigma+ polarization measured with the decay Sigma+ -> p pi0 and the e- - anti-nu/e correlation, we measure g1/f1 to be 1.32 +0.21-0.17(stat.) +/- 0.05(syst.), assuming the SU(3)f (flavor) values for g2/f1 and f2/f1. Our results are all consistent with exact SU(3)f symmetry.
