Observation of Neutron Neutron Interactions with Double Diffraction Dissociation at the ISR

Mantovani, G.C. ; Cavalli-Sforza, M. ; Conta, C. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 65 (1976) 401-404, 1976.
Inspire Record 110581 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27598

Neutron-neutron interactions have been observed at the CERN ISR with deutron colliding beams. The double - diffraction dissociation process →(p π p − )( pπ − ) has been measured with the Split Field Magnet at √ s = 26 GeV detecting all final state particles, including the two spectator protons. Mass and t distributions are presented and compared with corresponding spectra observed in single neutron diffraction in the same energy range with supporting evidence for factorization. The cross-section of the process is 11.5±2.8 μ b and can be directly related to the corresponding value for double diffraction dissociation of protons in the same energy range.

Phys.Lett.B 66 (1977) 395-400, 1977.
Inspire Record 110272 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27583

Using the solenoidal magnetic detector PLUTO, we have measured the total cross section for e + e − annihilation into hadrons. Results are presented for center of mass energies between 3.6 and 4.8 GeV, and in the regions of the J ψ (3.1) and ψ(3.7) resonances. We also present results for the 2 prong cross section in the energy range 3.6 to 4.8 GeV.

Hyperon-anti-Hyperon Production in anti-p p Interactions at 3.6-GeV/c Leading to 3 Or More Particles in the Final State

Nucl.Phys.B 119 (1977) 237-252, 1977.
Inspire Record 110545 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35525

Results are presented on the properties of the p p interactions at 3.6 GeV/ c leading to a hyperon or an antihyperon in final states with ⩾3 particles from an experiment of 35 eV/μb sensitivity. Results of amultidimensional mass fit to each final state are given along with the cross sections, differential cross sections and polarization, where possible, for the hypercharge exchange reactions p p → Λ Y ∗ (1385), Λ Y ∗ (1520), Σ Y ∗ (1385) and Σ Y ∗ (1520) .

The Real Part of the Forward Proton Proton Scattering Amplitude Measured at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings

Amaldi, U. ; Cocconi, G. ; Diddens, A.N. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 66 (1977) 390-394, 1977.
Inspire Record 110800 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27584

The real part of the proton proton elastic scattering amplitude has been determined from its interference with the Coulomb amplitude at total centre-of-mass energies up to 62 GeV. The observed steady increase of ϱ with energy indicates that the total proton proton cross section continues to increase well beyond this energy.

Measurement of the Spin Spin Correlation Parameter C(SS) in p p Elastic Scattering at 6-GeV/c

Auer, I.P. ; Hill, D. ; Miller, R.C. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 37 (1976) 1727, 1976.
Inspire Record 4268 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21043

We have made the first measurement of the spin-spin correlation parameter CSS in pp elastic scattering at 6 GeV/c over the |t| range from 0.05 to 1.5 (GeV/c)2. The measured CSS data points are all negative, and their absolute values increase with |t|. The results are compared with some existing attempts to describe the pp scattering process.

$\pi^- p$ at 205 GeV/c: Multiplicities of Charged and Neutral Particles Production of Neutral Particles

Ljung, D. ; Bogert, D. ; Hanft, R. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 15 (1977) 3163, 1977.
Inspire Record 111665 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24616

A study of 205-GeV/c π−p interactions has been made with a 48 800-picture exposure in the bare Fermilab 30-inch hydrogen bubble chamber. The average number of charged particles produced per inelastic interaction is 7.99±0.06. The elastic cross section is 3.18±0.13 mb and the total cross section is 24.19±0.44 mb. The inclusive cross sections for neutral-particle production are: σ(γ)=171.3±15.3 mb, σ(KS0)=3.64±0.61 mb (x<0.3), σ(Λ)=1.71±0.34 mb (x<0.3), and σ(Λ¯)=0.59±0.23 mb (x<0.1). The average number of π0's produced per inelastic collision is consistent with a linear rise with the number of charged particles, and about equal to the number of produced π− or π+. The average number of K0's, Λ's, and Λ¯'s is consistent with very little dependence on the number of charged particles. General characteristics of neutral-particle production are presented and compared with other experiments. For each topology the produced neutral energy is ∼13 of the incident energy.

Inclusive Production of Nonstrange Mesons in anti-p p Annihilations

The Bombay-CERN-College de France-Madrid collaboration Hamatsu, R. ; Ganguli, S.N. ; Malhotra, P.K. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 123 (1977) 189, 1977.
Inspire Record 111926 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35452

A study of the inclusive production of π − , η , ϱ 0 , ω ad f mesons in p p annihilation at 0.7 GeV/ c is presented. Topological and channel cross sections are determined. Longitudinal and transversal momentum distributions of non-strange mesons are studied. It is deduced that nearly 48% of all negative pions arise from the decay of η , ϱ 0 , ω and f mesons.

Momentum Transfer Distributions of Some Diffractive Enhancements in K- p Interactions at 14.3-GeV/c

Pons, Y. ; Borg, A. ; Denegri, D. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 123 (1977) 349-360, 1977.
Inspire Record 4400 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35451

We discuss the structure of the momentum transfer distributions for the diffractive dissociation processes p → n π + , p → Δ ++ π − and K − → K 890 ∗0 π − . In the near-threshold mass region a clear break of slope is found around t ′KK ∼ 0.25 GeV 2 for the two baryonic channels, whereas no comparable structure is seen for the mesonic system. The K → K ∗ π differential cross section exhibits a nearly exponential behaviour up to t ′ pp ∼ 0.6 GeV 2 , falling over three orders of magnitude. The slope variations and breaks are strongly correlated both to the mass region considered and to the decay angle of the fragmentation system.

Search for xi* Production in K- p Interactions at 2.87-GeV/c

Briefel, E. ; Gourevitch, S.A. ; Kirsch, L. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 16 (1977) 2706, 1977.
Inspire Record 118843 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24494

Evidence is presented for production of Ξ* resonances, decaying into Ξπ, Ξ(1530)π, ΛK¯, and ΣK¯, in K−p interactions at 2.87 Gev/c. The data represent final combined results from a 30-events/μb hydrogen exposure and an 18-events/μb exposure in deuterium designed to study Ξ* production in the mass interval 1.46-2.07 GeV/c2. In addition to Ξ(1820) and Ξ(1940), signals have been observed at masses of 1630 MeV/c2 and 1860 MeV/c2 decaying into Ξ−π+ and YK¯, respectively. Reaction cross sections have been measured for all final states containing two visible signs of strangeness, and for the final states ΛK−K+ and Σ0K−K+.
