The differential cross section of the charge-exchange reaction p p → n n has been measured at the CERN Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) at seven p momenta in the range 546–1287 MeV/ c . A pentanol polarized target has been used and the neutron and the antineutron have been detected in coincidence. The data cover most of the angular range.

First measurement of the anti-p p ---> anti-n n depolarization parameter D(0n0n) at 546-MeV/c and 875-MeV/c

Inspire Record 405013 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32839

The depolarization parameter Donon of the p dash p → n dash n charge exchange reaction has been measured for the first time at the CERN Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) at two antiproton momenta, 546 and 875 MeV/ c . The transverse polarization of the recoil neutron was analyzed using a large-acceptance neutron polarimeter made up of two parallel plastic scintillator planes. D 0 n 0 n is usually less than 0.35 which suggests that the spin-spin amplitudes dominate in the scattering matrix. Results are compared with the predictions of various N dash N potential models. The agreement is in general satisfactory.

High precision measurement of the $\overline{p}p \to \overline{n}n$ charge exchange differential cross-section

Phys.Lett.B 339 (1994) 325-331, 1997.
Inspire Record 382031 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27114

The differential p p → n n charge-exchange cross section has been measured at the CERN Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR), at two incident p momenta, 601 and 1202 MeV/c. features of the differential cross-section near the forward direction, i.e. a sharp peak at 0° scattering angle followed by an energy dependent dip-bump structure, are confirmed and measured with good precision and high statistical accuracy. The data show very clearly that the shape of the cross-section is a manifestation of the pion-exchange amplitude, and a simple extrapolation to the pion pole already indicates that the pion-nucleon coupling constant f c 2 can be determined with good precision.

Measurement of the analyzing power of the charge exchange anti-p p ---> anti-n n reaction in the momentum range 546-MeV/c - 1287-MeV/c at LEAR

Final results of the measurement of the analysing power A On of the p p → n n reaction are presented. Eight measurements in the range 546–1287 MeV/ c incoming p momentum have been performed over the full angular range using a solid polarized proton target and the Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) at CERN antiproton extracted beams.

Measurement of the analyzing power of the charge exchange anti-p p ---> anti-n n reaction in the momentum range 546-MeV/c - 875-MeV/c at LEAR

Inspire Record 322502 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29287

Results are given for the analysing power of the p ̄ p→ n ̄ n charge-exchange reaction at four incident beam momenta. The measurement is part of an experimental programme to study the spin structure of this reaction at LEAR. The analyzing power shows strong angular and energy dependence, which at present is not reproduced by the existing meson-exchange potential models.

As part of a programme to study the spin structure of the p p→ n n channel, we have measured the analysing power A 0 n and the differential cross section at an incident antiproton beam momentum of 704 MeV/ c . The analysing power exhibits a remarkable angular dependence, which is poorly reproduced by the existing potential models.

Measurement of the $\bar{p} p \to \bar{n} n$ Cross-section at Low $\bar{p}$ Momenta

Bruckner, W. ; Dobbeling, H. ; Guttner, F. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 169 (1986) 302-308, 1986.
Inspire Record 219986 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30264

First measurements of the differential cross section are presented for p ̄ p → n ̄ n at LEAR in the momentum range between 180 and 600 MeV/ c . The differential cross sections show a forward peaking followed by a smooth drop-off. No indication of the “bump-dip” structure reported at higher momenta has been observed. The angle-integrated charge-exchange cross sections are determined down to E n ̄ n cm = 6.6 MeV .

Inspire Record 217418 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.1974

Results are presented on the charge exchange reaction\(\bar pp \to \bar nn\) and\(\bar np\) annihilations from bubble chamber exposures to antiproton beam of momenta 700 and 760 MeV/c. The differential cross section of\(\bar pp \to \bar nn\) shows a forward spike followed by a clear dip bump structure. Total annihilation cross section of\(\bar np\) for average\(\bar n\) momentum of 700 MeV/c has been evaluated to be 55.4±2.2 mb. The multiplicity, Feynmanx andpT2 distributions for inclusive charged pions in\(\bar pp\) and\(\bar np\) annihilations are found to be similar. The emission of charged pions from\(\bar np\) annihilations are found to be consistent with thermodynamic models with temperature ∼110 MeV.

Study of the $\bar{p} p \to \bar{n} n$ Reaction in the Momentum Range 480-{MeV}/$c$ to 728-{MeV}/$c$

Phys.Rev.D 28 (1983) 2135, 1983.
Inspire Record 189641 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23789

The total and differential p¯p charge-exchange cross sections were obtained at seven momenta in the range 480 to 728 MeV/c. The total cross sections are roughly consistent with other data. The momentum dependences of the Legendre coefficients a1a0, a2a0, and a3a0 of the differential cross sections do not agree well with the predictions of the Bryan-Phillips model, unlike the case of elastic scattering.
