We measure the forward-backward asymmetries $A_{\rm FB}$ of charged $\Xi$ and $\Omega$ baryons produced in $p \bar{p}$ collisions recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV as a function of the baryon rapidity $y$. We find that the asymmetries $A_{\rm FB}$ for charged $\Xi$ and $\Omega$ baryons are consistent with zero within statistical uncertainties.

1 data table

Forward-backward asymmetry $A_{\rm FB}$ of $\Xi^\mp$ baryons with $p_T > 2$ GeV in minimum bias events, $p\bar{p} \rightarrow \Xi^\mp X$, and muon events $p \bar{p} \rightarrow \mu \Xi^\mp X$, and $A_{\rm FB}$ of $\Omega^-$ and $\Omega^+$ baryons with $p_T > 2$ GeV in muon events $p \bar{p} \rightarrow \mu \Omega^\mp X$. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic due to the detector asymmetry $A'_{\rm NS} A'_\Xi$.

We report a set of measurements of inclusive invariant transverse momentum differential cross sections of lambda, cascade and omega hyperons reconstructed in the central region with pseudorapidity within 1 and transverse momentum up to 10 GeV/c Events are collected with a minimum-bias trigger in ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV using the CDF II detector at the Tevatron Collider. As transverse momentum increases, the slopes of the differential cross sections are similar not only to each other but also to those of mesons, which could indicate a universality of the particle production in transverse momentum The invariant differential cross sections are also presented for different charged-particle multiplicity intervals.

We have made the first observations of Ξ − production in p p interactions at √ s =540 GeV. In a sample of 6964 non single-diffractive events we observe 17 Ξ − decays with an estimated background of less than one event. This corresponds to 0.04 ± 0.01 Ξ − per event in the transverse momentum range p t >1.0 GeV/ c and in the pseudorapidity range |η| < 3.5. Assuming an exponential p t distribution, we find 〈 p t 〉=1.1 −0.2 +0.3 GeV/ c .
