We have measured the inclusive prompt electron cross section over a wide momentum range (P>0.5 GeV/c) with the PEP-4 TPC detector. The semielectronic branching fractions of thec andb quarks are (9.1±0.9 (stat.)±1.3 (syst.))% and (11.0±1.8±1.0)%, respectively. Theb quark fragmentation function peaks at highz with 〈zb〉=0.74±0.05±0.03. The axial couplings to the neutral current areac=2.3±1.4±1.0 for thec quark andab=−2.0±1.9±0.5 for theb quark.

HADRON PRODUCTION IN 200-GeV mu - COPPER AND mu - CARBON DEEP INELASTIC INTERACTIONS

Nucl.Phys.B 246 (1984) 381-407, 1984.
Inspire Record 200802 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33858

The measurements of the z and p T 2 distribution of hadrons produced in the interactions of 200 GeV muons with copper and carbon nuclei are shown in different x Bj and virtual photon energy intervals. Effects of the jet scattering are seen at the lowest virtual photon energies while for energies above 70 GeV there is no evidence of these effects. Comparison with a theoretical model indicates that at high jet energies the parton fragmentation distance is greater than the nuclear radius and that the parton absorption cross section is less than 10 mb.

We observe γγ → η′ production in the reaction e + e − → e + e − π + π − γ. We measure the product γ γγ ( η ′) B ( η ′ → ϱ 0 γ ) to be 1.14 ± 0.08 ± 0.11 keV. A first measurement of the γγ → η′ transition form factor is made for Q 2 up to 1 GeV 2 .

Hyperon Production in $e^+ e^-$ Interactions in the $\Upsilon$ Region

The CLEO collaboration Alam, M.S. ; Csorna, S.E. ; Garren, L. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 53 (1984) 24, 1984.
Inspire Record 200712 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20410

We report measurements from the CLEO detector of the rate of Ξ and Λ production in e+e− interactions in the upsilon region. Hyperon production from the decay of the ϒ(1s) is compared with continuum e+e− data. The ratio of the production rates of Λ (and Λ―) to K0 (and K―0) on the ϒ(1s) is 0.21 ± 0.03, much larger than in the continuum, 0.07 ± 0.01. The ratios of the production rates of the Ξ and Λ are comparable, 0.10±0.02 [ϒ(1S)] and 0.07 ± 0.02 (continuum). We discuss some implications of the data for gluon and quark fragmentation models.

CHARACTERISTICS OF PROTON PRODUCTION IN JETS FROM e+ e- ANNIHILATION AT 29-GeV

The TPC/Two Gamma collaboration Aihara, H. ; Alston-Garnjost, M. ; Badtke, D.H. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 53 (1984) 130, 1984.
Inspire Record 201475 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20437

Proton production in e+e− annihilation at 29 GeV has been studied with the time projection chamber. Measurements of the dependence of proton fractions on momentum, transverse momentum with respect to the jet axis, hadron multiplicity, and event sphericity are reported. Our results are consistent with the assumption that primary baryons and mesons have similar production spectra, and indicate that protons provide more direct probes of underlying fragmentation phenomena than do pions.

A Study of High Transverse Momentum Electrons Produced in anti-p p Collisions at 540-GeV

The production of electrons with very high transverse momentum has been studied in the UA2 experiment at the CERN\(\bar pp\) collider (\(\sqrt s\)=540 GeV). From a sample of events containing an electron candidate withpT>15 GeV/c, we extract a clear signal resulting from the production of the charged intermediate vector bosonW±, which subsequently decays into an electron and a neutrino. We study theW production and decay properties. Further-more, we refine our results on the production and decay of the neutral vector bosonZ0. Finally, we compare the experimental results to the predictions of the standard model of the unified electro-weak theory.

Nucl.Phys.B 246 (1984) 1-11, 1984.
Inspire Record 199804 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33869

Using annihilation in a calorimeter as a trigger on antiprotons, we have measured the relative production cross sections of p , Λ and Ξ at y∼0 in the transverse momentum range 1 to 2 GeV/ c in pp collisions at √ s =63 GeV. We investigate correlations between the antibaryons and associated produced particles, and find evidence for local baryon number conservation.
