The cross sections of several exclusive reactions in p p interactions are given. In the channels p p → p p π + π − and p p → p p 2π + 2π − which dominate the interactions, the single and double diffractive dissociations are analysed and compared to the results obtained with K ± p interactions at the same energy, pp and p p interactions at other energies. The test of factorization at the p → p π + π − vertex is well verified. The process p p → Δ ++ Δ ++ is studied and the cross sections of Δ ++ , Δ ++ , ϱ 0 and f 0 production are also given.

Differential cross sections and polarizations are presented for the reactions K − p → Λπ 0 , Λη , Λη ′ at 8.25 GeV/ c incident K − momentum. The data, which come from a high statistics experiment in the CERN 2 m bubble chamber, are compared with previous experimental results on the same reactions and with current theoretical ideas.

The Σ − p and Σ − d total cross sections have been measured to a statistical accuracy of ±1% and ±0.5%, respectively, at five momenta from 74.5 to 136.9 GeV/ c , using the hyperon beam at the CERN SPS. The Ξ − p and Ξ − d total cross sections have also been measured to the same statistical accuracy at 101.5 and 133.8 GeV/ c . The systematic uncertainty at each momentum is estimated to be of the order of ±0.5%. The hyperon-nucleon cross sections are shown to be rising with energy, and the data are compared with various phenomenological models.

We have performed in the NA3 experiment the study of high mass dimuon production by a hadronic unseparated beam on hydrogen and platinum targets. The comparison of the production cross‐section for proton and antiproton together with the differential cross‐section dσ/dx allows us to compare the data with a production mechanism involving quark‐antiquark and gluon‐gluon interactions. The cosΘ* distribution of the same J/ψ data have also been analysed and results will be presented. Finally we have observed T production from 150 GeV/c incident pions.

p p annihilations, leading to the production of at least one neutral K meson in the final state, have been studied in the incident momentum region of 700–760 MeV/ c . Topological cross sections and cross sections for the various exclusive final states are presented. Detailed analyses of the different final states have been carried out to study the importance of resonance production and of quasi two-body and quasi three-body processes. A detailed study of the K K π system in the four-body final states shows that the F 1 meson is a spurious effect due to systematic biases. In the momentum range investigated, the C = +1 final states are strongly suppressed.

By combining results from the MARK-J at PETRA on Bhabha scattering, μ + μ - and τ + τ - production with recent world data from neutrino-electron scattering experiments, we determine unique values for the leptonic weak neutral current coupling constants g V and g A in the framework of electroweak models containing a single Z 0 . In contrast to previous analyses, we only use data from purely leptonic interactions, and therefore avoid the inherent uncertainties resulting from the use of hadronic targets. From the MARK-J data alone in the context of the standard SU(2) ⊗ U (1) model of Glashow, Weinberg and Salam, we find sin 2 θ W =0.24±0.11.

The production of J/ψ by π ± , K ± , p and p¯ incident on tungsten at 39.5GeV/ c beam momentum has been studied. Production of ψ' (3700) by π ± was also observed. The J/ψ relative particle/a ntiparticle cross-sections for x F 0 are σ(σ + ) σ(σ − =( are σ(σ ± )/σ(σ − )=(1.01±0.06), σ(K + )/σ(K) − )=(0.29±0.07) and σ(p) /σ(p¯)= (0.1+-0.03). The small p/p¯ and K + /K − cross-section ratios indicate the importance of valence quarks in the production process.

The reactionsπ−p→K0(890) Λ,K0(890)Σ0 andK0(890)Σ0 are studied at an incident momentum of 3.95 GeV/c using data from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment corresponding to ∼90 events/μb. The differential cross sections, density matrix elements of the vector meson and hyperon polarizations are presented. A transversity amplitude analysis is performed for each of the reactions. The results are compared with those obtained for the SU(3) related processesK−p→ϕΔ, ϕΣ0, ϕΣ0(1385) andϱ−Σ+(1385) and with predictions of the additive quark model and SU(6) sum rules.

Production of pions, kaons, protons and antiprotons has been studied in e + e − annihilations at 12 and 30 GeV centre of mass energy using time of flight techniques. The fractional yield of charged kaons and baryons appears to rise with outgoing particle momentum. At our highest energy at least 40% of e + e − annihilations into hadrons are estimated to contain baryons.
