Results on the production cross sections ofW andZ bosons detected in the UA2 experiment are given based on a large sample ofW→eν andZ→e+e− decays. The measured cross sections are σWe = 660±15(stat)±37(syst)pb, σZe = 70.4±5.5(stat)±4.0(syst)pb and their ratioR=9.38−0.72+0.82(stat)±0.25(syst). In the framework of the Standard Model, the measured value ofR is used to determine the total width of theW, Γ(W)=2.30±0.19(stat)±0.06(syst) GeV.

We have investigated the inclusive production of γ, KS0, Λ0, and Λ¯0 in 100-GeV/c p¯p interactions in the 30-in. hydrogen bubble chamber at Fermilab. We present various inclusive distributions and compare them with corresponding distributions in 100-GeV/c pp interactions and lower-energy p¯p interactions. We find some evidence for Σ(1385) production but none for K*(890) production. We find evidence for a nonzero Λ0 polarization of -0.45 ± 0.21.

The UA2 collaboration Alitti, J. ; Ansari, R. ; Ansorge, R.E. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 49 (1991) 17-28, 1991.
Inspire Record 298412 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15084

A study of the two-jet mass spectrum measured with the UA 2 calorimeter has revealed a signal from hadronic decays ofW andZ bosons above a large background. Production and decay properties of the signal have been measured. The combined production cross-section σ·B(W, Z → two jets) is 9.6±2.3 (stat.)±1.1 (syst.) nb, compared with an expectation of 5.8 nb calculated to order αs2. A limit on the production cross-section of additional heavy vector bosons decaying into two jets is given as a function of the boson mass.

Phys.Rev.D 10 (1974) 32-44, 1974.
Inspire Record 95568 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.25044

Results of a survey of strange-particle production in np interactions in the momentum range 4-8 GeV/c are presented. As details of 3-body events have already been published, the results for the most part concern 4- and 5-body events with no missing neutrals. Cross sections for production of the most prominent resonances are given, and the properties of certain quasi-3-body channels discussed and compared with the corresponding states produced in pp interactions. It is found that the Σ−(1385) resonance is produced very strongly in unfitted topologies and certain statistical tensors for its production are shown to be in agreement with the predictions of the quark model.

Inspire Record 156268 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.8251

Results are presented from a study of inclusive neutral strange particle production by a 147 GeV/ c tagged π + /K + /p beam in the Fermilab 30-inch hydrogen bubble chamber. The experiment made use of the proportional hybrid spectrometer system. Results are based on 995 K S 0 , 485 Λ, and 83 Λ found in a sample of 132 000 pictures. Cross sections are given for inclusive production of these particles by each of the three beam particles, and comparisons are made with measurements at other energies. Topological cross sections are also calculated, and KNO multiplicity scaling is investigated. Distributions are presented of invariant cross sections as functions of the Feynman scaling variable x and c.m. rapidity y . The transverse momentum-squared distributions with their fitted slopes are also given. Comparisons are made of the production characteristics for the three beam types.

We derive cross-sections for the inclusive productiion in p̄p interactions at 100 GeV /c of π 0 , K S 0 and Λ 0 Λ 0 of 91.5±5.7 mb, 5.2±0.4 mb and 4.8±0.4 mb respectively, which are all higher than pp cross-sections at energy. We find indications that these differences can be attributed to “annihilation” processes.

STRANGE PARTICLE PRODUCTION IN ANTI-P P ANNIHILATIONS AT 8.8-GEV/C

Hill, J.C. ; Ansorge, R.E. ; Carter, J.R. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 227 (1983) 387, 1983.
Inspire Record 196402 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33929

Results are presented from an experiment at the SLAC 40″ hybrid facility (SHF) using an 8.8 GeV/ c antiproton beam. Using external detectors and an on-line trigger, a sample of events enriched in p p annihilations was obtained. pp interactions taken under the same conditions enabled the annihilations to be identified. Cross sections and distributions for the inclusive production of K s 0 and K ∗± (890), and cross sections for exclusive channels with a pair of strange particles are presented.

Hyperon Production at 200-{GeV} and 900-{GeV} Center-of-mass Energy

The UA5 collaboration Ansorge, R.E. ; Asman, B. ; Burow, L. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 328 (1989) 36-58, 1989.
Inspire Record 277298 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33174

The production of Λ 's and Ξ − 's in proton-antiproton collisions at 200 and 900 GeV c.m. energy has been studied using decays observed in the UA5 streamer chambers. The results are compared to previously published 546 GeV data, to results from other experiments, and to four theoretical models. The Λ yield per inelastic event is estimated to be 0.42±0.11 at 200 GeV and 0.66±0.14 at 900 GeV. We find a mean number of Ξ − 's per inelastic collision of 0.03 −0.02 +0.04 at 200 GeV and 0.06 −0.03 +0.05 at 900 GeV. The average transverse momentum of Λ's in the rapidity region | y |⩽2 is found to be 0.80 −0.14 +0.20 GeV/ c at 200 GeV and 0.74±0.09 GeV/ c at 900 GeV. The average transverse momentum of Ξ − 's in the rapidity region | y |⩽3 is estimated to be 0.8 −0.2 +0.4 GeV/ c at 200 GeV and 0.7 −0.1 +0.2 GeV/ c at 900 GeV which is lower than the unexpectedly high value of 1.1±0.2 GeV/ c measured at 546 GeV. The ratio of Ξ − production to Λ production in the region | y |⩽2, p t >1 GeV/ c is 0.07 −0.04 +0.08 at 900 GeV. This value is consistent with the ratio found in e + e − collisions and lower energy pp collisions but lower than the value obtained at 546 GeV. The average particle composition of events at 200 and 900 GeV, estimated using UA5 data, is presented.

Phys.Lett.B 199 (1987) 311-316, 1987.
Inspire Record 254608 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30057

Results on inclusive kaon production at 200 and 900 GeV centre of mass (CM) energy obtained with the UA5 detector at the pulsed CERN SPS antiproton-proton Collider are presented and compared with our earlier data at 546 GeV. The average transverse momentum 〈 p t 〉 of kaons has been estimated to be (0.50±0.04) GeV/ c at 200 GeV and (0.63±0.03) GeV/ c at 900 GeV in the central region and shows an increase with CM energy that is smore rapid than that expected from previous ISR data. The yield of kaons per inelastic p p event is found to be (0.72±0.12) at 200 GeV and (1.31±0.14) at 900 GeV. Finally, the K/π ratio has been found to exhibit a very slow increase with CM energy.
